Non-Unicode Programming Languages

Anonymous user -

Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible (and if so, how) to manually select the language with which to launch a non-Unicode program?

Currently, to change the language, I have to go to the Control Panel, then Regional and Language Options, Advanced Options tab, and choose the language I want from the Language for non-Unicode programs list.
After that, the computer has to restart to apply the changes.

It is quite annoying to have to restart the computer every time I change programs...

Is there a way to manually launch a program in a defined character encoding (in a given language)?
Via a command line or another method?

Hoping for a positive response to end my constant restarts to switch between two languages...
See you soon

I think we need to modify a registry key:

    List of Windows language codes

To know the language of Windows:
Check the value in the registry:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NLS\Language\InstallLanguage
    To find it in DOS:
    REG QUERY HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
    Control\NLS\Language /v InstallLanguage

    Hello,

I'm picking up the thread because I'm having exactly the same issue.
I tried to resolve it with the import of the .reg file below.
The command in a cmd is as follows: %SystemRoot%\system32\reg import file.reg

The problem is that it doesn't seem to be working.
    Did I forget something?
    Thanks for your feedback

Please choose regional and language options in the Windows Control Panel and select the language that corresponds to the one used in Google Talk as the Language for non-Unicode programs.
