Hello,
One of the fans in my computer is malfunctioning, it’s running poorly and rubbing against the edges, which creates a very unpleasant sound. I do plan to change it, but I'll have to wait a little while, and not having the tools to take it apart, I would like to disable it at least until I can repair it.
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
In my opinion, that's not a very good idea. What is the PC's model? What temperature is it currently at with the fan?
It would be annoying if the PC started boiling like a sausage without the fan.
You can check in the UEFI if there's an option regarding the fans. There are software programs under Windows, but not all of them work with every PC, so the model is needed.
You can also simply disconnect the fan from the motherboard, but I understand that you can't do that right now...

For SilentOption, I can handle a few options but it's a bit secondary; I think I'll disconnect it from the motherboard while waiting to find a lasting solution because right now it's Hiroshima in my case x')
I see that the Internet knows a thing or two about DIY, so I think I'll find what I'm looking for!
Thanks for taking the time to respond, have a good evening ;)

In my memories, you could completely turn off the fan in the software by creating a custom heat/speed curve, make sure to check that.
I don't know if that's the case with this MSI laptop, but some laptops scream at startup when their fan isn't plugged in. This can manifest as beeps, an error message from the UEFI... generally, it doesn't prevent booting, but it can massively throttle its performance, what I mean is that each laptop might react differently. That's why disconnecting it might not work very well.
You're welcome^^

From time to time, the fan stops for a long period (1-2 hours), and even in that situation, it doesn't heat up particularly.
I know this might seem like a bad idea, but the noise is really concerning, and I feel that if I let it run longer, it could damage my laptop. Additionally, for how little I'm currently using it, I don't think it will have a big impact, which is why I'd like to disconnect it.
And I believe I have a screwdriver on hand to disconnect it!
In any case, if you were to reach overheating, you would know quite quickly; initially, the processor would lower its frequency to cool down, which would cause significant slowdowns. And if the heat rises even further, it will shut down by itself without posing any danger as long as it doesn't happen repeatedly.
For MSI PCs, there is this software.
It's not guaranteed to work, but your model should be compatible.
You extract the folder and run setup.exe.
