Hello,
... if you're still looking!
Scnneider is just disguised Philips: here's the proof!
But on the Philips site, there's no SDV439.
Moreover, it doesn't seem there are any updates available for any model.

Hello,
Philips-Schneider does not offer any updates for the SDV4xx series DVDs
Only product information
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sdv430_19/sdv430_19_pss_eng.pdf
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sdv442_021/sdv442_021_pss_eng.pdf
or user manuals.
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sdv434_19/sdv434_19_dfu_eng.pdf
I don't understand what makes you all think that an update is possible.

Good evening,
I am looking for an update for the Schneider 439 DVD player because many of my DivX "UDF files" are not read by this device, while everything worked with an old Chinese ECS model.
Moreover, the manual clearly states on page 39 to do "966" to know the version of the BE, the FE, and the DPS, and that there is a software update available at www.philips.com/support, but like all the other internet users, I found that there was nothing on that site. Anyway...
On the other hand, as I live in New Caledonia, the Car....our store here gave me a region unlock code; if anyone is interested, you just need to open the tray and enter "98790," and it will automatically be accepted to switch to region O.
Well, I am still looking for this update to be able to watch my old DIVXs.
Thank you in advance.

Well, this is clearer now.
I think this https://divx.com/en/software/divx/?lang=fr&tiger_aff=q_download_free_divx_software&cid=FRARBGOO4017&gclid=CKLT2LbMhZMCFQ8SuwodMld0Agva might help you all to solve your problem, if it’s the same as bossnoum's.

Yes, it’s clearer, like blood pudding juice!
I bought a DVD player that should read DivX, but it doesn’t read them all. So since it’s been less than 7 days since I bought it, I’m going to take it back with my DivX that it doesn’t read and ask them at Carouf to find me a solution or sell me another player.
Moreover, in the documentation, they tell you to update, and when you get to the Philips site, there isn’t even a single Schneider. So while searching, I found out that Philips Holland had bought Schneider Germany, then the giant American Whirlpool absorbed Philips, and Schneider ended up in the hands of the Chinese, and I see on the box that it’s supposedly made in Hungary.
I think they’re mainly mocking the final customer and are afraid of preconceived notions about Chinese work, so after assembling it in China, they send it to Hungary for packaging to make it better on the CEE border issue, maybe also taxes on Asian products, and the European customer will buy a Hungarian product better than a Chinese one, that’s true.
I think the global market is becoming increasingly blurry; when we see Renault (Logan) supposedly made in Romania, they need to stop messing with us with the famous brand of the French flagship and then hammering us about our unemployment! Some people must really be filling their pockets with this system of communicating vessels.
Well, I’ll calm down because all this doesn’t solve my problem, and I’m waiting for possible ideas...

Well, I found the solution:
Since I had bought it 4 days ago, I took the device back to Carrouf and told them it was a great product but it didn't read all the Divx as stated on the box, and that I had spent a whole day looking for an update online, despite a thorough search on the Philips.com site as suggested in the documentation.
The surprised seller told me I was the first return, and I replied that if he could update it in front of me and play the UDF Divx I had brought that worked on my computer, I would commit to keeping it. So the guy offered me a store credit, which I refused because I was within the legal timeframe and he had no interesting player. They then refunded me.
At another distributor, I bought a slightly more expensive Sony DVD/Divx, and the first thing I did was check my famous UDF Divx, and it worked perfectly.
So that’s the end of my ordeal!
For those who are no longer within the legal timeframe, I wish you good luck in finding an elusive update....

I have the same problem but with the model 436, and it is true that we should be able to update this type of equipment.
However, same problem, and I have had this player for over a year, so I have to buy another one, but this time it won't be a Schneider. Given the prices charged and the services provided and the poor overall quality, I think I will just run a cable from the computer to the TV, stop paying my TV license fee since I will also pay for it on the web without benefiting from it because my operator is just as deceitful as Schneider, which will consequently allow me to change my PC in two years, as all manufacturers of equipment now wish, whatever the cost for future generations.

Hello caca-break,
As I mentioned earlier, I no longer have a problem since I offloaded the Schneider 439 without the possibility of updating for a Sony that plays everything, is region-free and silent. For now, I'm happy with it; it's been two months and it's working wonderfully. It's true that I paid almost double for this fake Schneider, true Chinese, but no more headaches. PHEW!
I believe that in the future, I will choose serious brands; there's a reason why Mercedes are more expensive than R5s...
Well, to all those still looking for the update, good luck; I spent 2 days on the Net and Carr...phew, they immediately threw in the towel because they were aware of the problem, so immediate refund.
Thank you nonetheless for your help and also to the creators of this site;
See you next time

Hello,
This player is only good for its name! I went to ask how to update its firmware for DivX playback but they told me that the factory in China had closed and it was impossible.
I took mine back to the store, they threw it away and I had to buy a SONY DVD/DIVX player three times more expensive... Now I have no problems!
Good luck…
