Update for MPIX 355

Hello,
I have a storex MPiX 355 and I can't seem to download the update (bank30). Some AVI format videos are not playable on my hard drive while my PC plays them without any problem. When I try to play certain files, it says "UNSUPPORTED CODEC (QPEL)." If someone could enlighten me on this point, that would be nice. Thanks in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.12

Hello
You should not try to read the file
Download the update file "bank30.rom"
After putting the MPIX-355 in "USB" mode, connect your MPiX-355 via USB to the PC
Copy the bank30.rom file to the root of the MPiX-355 hard drive using the USB cable
(but not in a folder or subfolder)

Disconnect your MPiX-355 from the PC after clicking the USB device safely remove icon
Switch the MPiX-355 to "PLAY" mode
A message appears on the TV "ROM, BANK 30 ERASE READ..."
!! DO NOT TURN OFF THE MPiX-355 !!

Wait for the end message "PLEASE TURN OFF THE POWER"
After putting the MPIX-355 in "USB" mode, reconnect the MPIX-355 to the PC,
then delete the file "bank30.rom"

Reconnect your MPiX-355 to the TV
Your product is updated

have you tried VLC?

it plays a lot of types of videos... anyway, more than Windows Media does

I have a problem reading movies on my TV while I can play them on my PC. I get this message that says: unsupported codec (QPEL); I downloaded the link posted by zibbus and now I find myself with the instruction sheet and a small folder that Windows cannot read. There are no answers on the web and I don't know which software to use for playback...
Who can help me?

I can't get my hard drive to work on the PC and it's slowing down my computer.

If you have Windows XP on your PC, just connect your hard drive to your PC, but first you need to switch the switch at the back of the drive to the USB position.

The link you gave me is for drivers under 98. What I want are the codecs to be able to play my videos with my hard drive.

I don't want to read my videos on my PC but directly from my hard drive (HD). VLC won't be of any use to me on my HD.

For your issue, here is the link
http://www.storex.fr/storex/download/MPIX3G/instruction_de_MAJ_mpix355.htm

It's very well explained, but there must be at least 127 GB of free space on the disk for the update to work.

I encountered the unsupported codec problem (QPEL), I followed your link and your explanation, but I can't open the bank30.rom; there's the explanation sheet and a small folder that Windows cannot read.
What should I do???
