Google Meet - camera won’t start

Hello,
My son has to take online classes via Google Meet but the camera won’t start. Account creation has been done, synchronization is enabled, camera access permissions have been granted, and I checked Google support’s online help but none of the proposed solutions work. My webcam works perfectly and everything is fine when I do a video call with MS Teams and Zoom, but not with Google Meet. The microphone works but not the camera; the text "the camera is going to start" appears but nothing happens and no one can see us.
Could someone have a solution to propose? I carried my computer to the school but they can’t find the solution either. The only clue is that, in the settings that can be enabled for each visited site, I see that for Google Classroom, the device camera is "Blocked to protect your data privacy" with no option to modify this access (the toggle to change it is light gray and cannot be changed).
