Hello,
I've been having a problem with the Epic Games launcher for some time now. A while ago, I uninstalled it because I wasn't interested in the games offered on it and wasn't using it. Since then, I've been trying to reinstall it, but nothing works; the installation always gets stuck at the same point. A launcher window appears and says "Please wait while we launch the update." This message is soon followed by a small indicator below it (an icon with an exclamation mark telling me that Epic is unable to connect). Then, this window keeps loading indefinitely.
To solve this problem, I've tried all the solutions I could find online:
- Turning off the computer and turning it back on (I've been trying to fix the problem for several days)
- Reinstalling Epic Games while properly removing all files.
- Disabling the antivirus during installation
- Troubleshooting with a Windows assistant
- Updating DirectX, as well as everything else imaginable on the PC
- Changing the installation location
- Running Epic as an admin
- Launching Epic from the source folder
....
and a bunch of other annoying things. :/
Do you have a solution to this problem? I'm providing my PC config below in case it helps. Thanks in advance for your responses...
Config:
Windows 10 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H 2.20GHz
GPU: GTX1070
RAM: 8GB DDR4 or 5 (I can't remember)
DirectX12
Security updates: ok
I want to point out that I can run almost all my games at maximum quality without lag and I "clean" my PC every month with a cleaner like Glary Utilities 5.
Other than the Epic launcher problem, there have been no other issues on the PC for almost 9 months.

Good evening, thank you for your reply.
This issue arose well before Epic Games offered this deal, under the same circumstances as in my message. (about 1 or 2 months ago)
To this day, I still haven't found any answers to this problem.
I also want to clarify that a friend of mine was able to update his launcher at the same time I tried. On his side, no similar problem. :/ -
Good evening,
If you are trying to install the launcher since this evening, please be aware that Epic is experiencing major server issues.
The fact is that GTA 5 is being offered for free on their platform, and due to the excitement, the servers are down at the moment. You should try again later.

It seems that the issue is a configuration problem with the firewall on the PC and/or the router that is blocking the update.
Are you downloading from this address: https://www.epicgames.com/store/fr/download?lang=fr

Yes, I have tried several times to reinstall through this address without much success each time.
How can I access the firewall settings of the box? -
It depends on the box.
Which provider are you with?

Normally, for SFR, the configuration page address is: http://192.168.1.1
From there, you should test disabling the firewall and see if the launcher installs. Then you need to remember to reactivate the firewall

Hello again!
I finally managed to launch the launcher!
The problem was therefore not related to the firewall, I tried disabling it and still got the same result.
I then looked into the target folder, tinkering a bit and gathering tips from lots of different tutorials, and I succeeded. It was still quite a struggle...
Thank you for your replies and your time, I am marking this discussion as resolved.
