"unauthorized operation attempt on a registry key etc."

Hello,

Today I did a little cleaning on my PC, and after this magnificent cleanup, I can no longer open my .mp3 files or .jpg or .mp4.. I've tried right-clicking > open with > and tried different players. Some work, but the ones I was using by default no longer work. When I try to launch them, an error message saying "Unauthorized operation attempt on a registry key marked for deletion" appears, and I can't find a solution on the internet.

I must have deleted something useful while cleaning my PC, I suppose; I was careful though, but well...

If anyone has any idea..! Thanks :)

- I'm on Windows 10, Acer.

You do NOT CLEAN a PC. It's completely pointless and highly risky (you just experienced it). Do a restore with a point prior to the date of the massacre.

Hmm, yes, we clean, but maybe not like I did.. :x

What would happen if by any chance I didn't have a save point?

      Thanks for the advice!

Reinstallation. At the very least without losing your documents but with the loss of applications.

    Hello,

Normally for this "attempted unauthorized operation on a registry key marked for deletion" ... you need to restart the PC.

    Boot Windows in safe mode:

    Does it work there?

    or

Create a new administrator user, see: How to create a new administrator user on Windows
Check if it's the same there.

      Hello,

I restarted my PC, and now the mp3 files work, but I can't play my videos: "Invalid value for the registry." I'm going to try restarting in safe mode tonight!
      Thanks
