Hard drive issue with extended storage unit format

Hello everyone, I'm having a problem. I ordered a hard drive (1 TB) on Amazon, and it arrived as expected. I used it once on my computer to store series (no more than 100GB of video), then I ejected it and connected it to my PS4. I launched the media player app on the PS4 to read the videos previously stored on the hard drive. It told me that the USB storage could not be supported. So, I went into the settings, and it suggested formatting the USB hard drive as "extended storage." After this operation, I still couldn't read my videos. I then tried reconnecting my hard drive to my computer, and I couldn't find it in my folders; I could only eject it. I think I changed the format of my hard drive so that it can only download: Games, Extensions...
So, my question is, is it possible to reformat the extended storage unit as a USB hard drive?
