Hello,

when I click on the Safari icon in the dock, Google opens instead of Safari
even though in the system settings Safari is set as the default browser
I cannot connect and use Safari!

thank you for your responses

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 74.0

Hello,

Are you sure it’s not the Google search engine page that opens in Safari and not the Google Chrome software?

Thank you for your very quick response

Indeed, I expressed myself poorly; it is indeed the Google search engine page that is displayed
But before, this page did not appear
How can I make it stop appearing?

Actually, it's to help my mother (85 years old!) who, like everyone else, is confined at home and very alone, and I am not used to using Macs
But since she cannot find her usual Safari environment, she panics
I am trying to help her using TeamViewer

Thanks again from her

Well...

Open Safari and click on the Safari menu > Preferences. The preferences window opens.

Choose the General tab at the top left. In the Homepage window, there are various options and settings including Homepage, which can be filled with your preferred choice or left empty. For me, it's https://www.apple.com/fr/startpage/

Yes, I changed the homepage address, but the system is not taking this modification into account, as when I go back to Safari preferences, the Google search engine is still set as the homepage.

So!..

I managed it: above "Home page", there is a section "The new windows open with". In the corresponding dropdown list, you select "the home page" and it works like a charm :-)
