A red cross appears on my creation when I apply certain effects even with free plugins. Can you help me?

To my knowledge, Trapcode is not free!

Yes, I know that Trapcode is not free, but I am using the trial version, and Motion Factory is free, so that's why I don't understand.

On the Red Giant site, they say to make sure you clicked on Start Trial in the Red Giant Manager application in the Start menu. Here is the link where they discuss this.
