Reading a DVD on an ASUS laptop Solved

Question

Hello, I have a ton of DVDs that I wanted to convert on my computer, ASUSF751S, but I can't even read them! I thought they were too old, but today I bought the new DVD from Les Enfoirés, and it's the same! I asked the seller at Fnac, who couldn't give me an answer and suggested buying a DVD player!!!!!!! So I thought of you to tell me what I need to do regarding my computer, software for example!!! I already have VLC and DVD Fab HD Decrypter on my computer I'm using Google Chrome and Windows 10 Thank you for reading and for your future responses  -- Thank you

Hello.  Asus X751L = This PC was released around 15 / 12 / 2014  In any Windows PC, the DVD drive/recorder driver appears in the manager. Try repairing it by uninstalling it. Then completely turn off your PC and restart.     Otherwise, what video software do you have? Is there no progress with VLC?  Then there's the story of going through the registry to remove UpperFilters and LowerFilters, but this procedure works 1 time out of 10 and does not guarantee a loss of functionality in certain programs. Hello Jojo  DVD drive uninstalled and when the computer restarted, the drive was still there without me reactivating it!  The DVD FAB HD DECRYPTOR software, which opens when the DVD starts, to copy it as a TS file that I can't open, won't uninstall!  So cleaning with CCLEANER didn’t help!  And another with SPYBOT! Nothing!  As for other software, I also have VLC   At one point, there was ERROR 157, if that helps you!!!!   I'm out of ideas, and I'm not very good with computers!  Have a good day   --  Thanks

Hello everyone, and for Michel, once you have checked if the DVDs are being read properly on the PC viewer, there are free software options to recover the TS files from DVDs. You also need to convert them to .mp2 or .mp4, which complicates things.  So if you are not an "expert," I suggest a "user-friendly" editing software that has a "DVD content import" feature which will produce .mpg files. The driver reinstalls itself when the PC starts up, well before you are on the desktop. >>> ERROR 157 <<< This is an error reference that is generally found for burning. But it raises serious doubt about the reliability of the laser lens. Cleaning it manually requires a minimum of electronic knowledge. As for cleaning CDs, don’t count on their effectiveness. Changing the lens is also as expensive, if not more expensive, than changing the reader/burner, plus the complexity of changing it. However, you can change this reader yourself, it's easy. There's only one screw to remove under the PC, and then pull it out. For newer models, it's a bit more complicated. Once you have the reader in hand, locate the label attached to the reader and either give us the reference in your next message or do the search on the internet yourself. Hello Ziggurat   I hadn't seen Macbernic's comment, and I replied to him!  You asked me if my DVD is a standalone one, no, it's the DVD included on my ASUS F751S!  I've tried reading different DVDs, but the problem is the same; however, audio DVDs work fine.  As I mentioned, I have DVD Decrypter, which opens automatically and puts a TS file on my desktop, but I can't open it, so I can't watch the video!!!  So, thinking that it was this software that was preventing me from reading my DVDs, I wanted to uninstall it, ....... it no longer exists so my applications ..... but it reopens again when I try to play a DVD!!!!!!! Strange!  I'm going to do what you said by uninstalling Spybot, and install  REVO again!!   Thanks again  Have a good Monday  --  Thank you

Hello,  first open VLC, then you need to choose Media, open a folder, and select the VIDEO_TS folder on your DVD, and the movie should normally be played.  See you!

Hello everyone, given the events, I will have time to try to sort out my problem !!!!! So I uninstalled my VLC which wasn't opening, and reinstalled version 3-3.0.8.0.7.1 win 32, along with its updates. Then, I go to my DVD player file and open the VIDEO_TS part. So I then open a video with VLC but it tells me: it cannot open the folder VIDEO_TS/video_ts.vob!!! The file is 20762kb!!!! The DVD player starts up fine, but that's it!!!!!!!!!! I'm so frustrated!!!!!! Thank you and good luck with the lockdown!
