[EPSON projector] Sound output issue PC-Epson projector

Hello,

I am not qualified at all, but I will try to explain as best as I can:

I have a recurring problem every time I connect the audio output of the video projector to my PC.
There seems to be a conflict between my PC's built-in speaker and the sound from the Epson video projector. The sound keeps oscillating between the two without stabilizing.
- Intel sound for screens (the sound from the video projector)
- Realtek High Definition Audio (the speaker from my PC)

I am a teacher, so this prevents me from working properly... I would really like to resolve this issue once and for all :(

My PC is connected to the video projector via HDMI output (then with an HDMI-VGA adapter to connect to the video projector). I have no image issues; it's just the sound that is not functioning properly.

The audio driver on my PC seems to be up to date, though, just in case that’s the issue?
I don't know the exact model, but the video projector is the EB-685 type (for classrooms). Thank you for your help.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 80.0.3987.132

Hi,
Does this problem occur with another device besides the PC?
And what if you connect the PC to another device that receives audio? Like an amplifier for example?

Try using another cable.

And if the video projector matches the reference you mentioned, it should have HDMI inputs, so why bother converting the signal to go to VGA? (and this way the audio would go through HDMI)

Thank you for the response.

No problem with the sound output from my PC connected to my external JBL speakers for example (I had invested in these external speakers after all), but the same issue occurs as soon as the projector is connected at the same time: sound conflict.

In fact, even when I try via Bluetooth, it refuses to apply as soon as the projector is connected in parallel, whereas I have no problem when it is not connected (there must be a solution, but that would be another topic and I risk digressing; I would like to find a solution with the sound from the projector rather than finding an alternative solution).

The graphics card and sound card of my PC are up to date, I just checked in the device manager.

As for the cable, sorry, it must not be this model of projector then, it only has a VGA output and no HDMI, so it's quite an old model. I requested new VGA cables, but it doesn't change anything. I also changed my HDMI-VGA adapter, without success. Once again, the image works perfectly, but the sound is the issue.

The VGA only transmits the image, not the sound, so if you're not having issues with the image, there's no need to touch it.

Is the audio connected with a jack cable?

You should try connecting a different audio source than this PC to the projector. That way, we can determine if the problem lies with the PC or specifically with the link between this PC and the projector.

To test another source, if it indeed uses a standard jack for audio, a smartphone with a jack port will suffice.

I don't know if this model has it, but many of these projectors have a USB input that allows everything to be transmitted (sound, image, etc.) and it is used via proprietary drivers that need to be installed. This wouldn't solve the problem but would work around it.

It might also be worth checking if the projector might need a firmware update to fix this issue (unlikely).

By the way, even when I try via Bluetooth, it refuses to apply as long as the video projector is connected in parallel, whereas I have no issues when it is not plugged in
That’s not necessarily abnormal.

Sure, thanks, I'm going to do a test on Monday and try to connect to my smartphone.

For your information, I think it's my PC and the settings because there is also a desktop computer in the classrooms and the sound works when the jack is plugged into its CPU. (But the computers are old, that's why I prefer to use my laptop).

Could you tell me more about the USB input? (all the cables from the projector are connected to a kind of wall socket so I don't know to what extent I will have room to change the setup).

Can you tell me more about the USB input?
It's a USB input (often type B) that can be found on many projectors.

It is used to transmit both image and sound, and sometimes a few other options.

Since USB was not originally designed by the standard to transmit sound and image (at least not before USB-C), manufacturers provide drivers to be installed on the PC so that the USB connection can function as a video/audio transmission.
Personally, I don't think this is a good solution. First of all, having to install proprietary drivers instead of using standards... and all the problems that come with it: compatibility, the need for administrator mode to install (which is not always possible in the case of PCs in schools).

It would also be possible to use a Bluetooth receiver to jack, which would also bypass the issue.
For example: BT receiver and cable to power the projector

After that, it's necessary to check what inputs are available; here I'm explaining without knowing what is possible.

And testing beforehand might help solve the problem without having to buy anything.
