Hello,

I would like to install an EPSON Stylus SX400 printer on my HP laptop running Windows 10.
As I am not a computer expert (I am 65 years old), I would appreciate a step-by-step guide for the installation.

Hello,

- In the Start menu, search for "printers and scanners"
Then click on "Add a printer or scanner" (Make sure the printer is turned on)
- Let Windows search; the printer should appear in the list. Then just click on it and select "Add device"

(In some cases, Windows does not find the printer, so you need to click on "The printer that I want isn’t listed" and leave the first option checked)

  Windows cannot find the printer….I click on "I can't find my printer……" and the response is "no printer was found"
  What should I do???
  For your information, the printer is connected to a USB port on the laptop and is plugged in electrically….Is that all there is to it??

    We will try something else, manually install the driver (dated 06-Oct-2016) and retry the operation to add the printer. If it still doesn't work, try the "Epson Software Updater"

    first of all, thank you for your messages
    I downloaded the first driver = nothing, so I downloaded the second one. Then I continued the installation as you advised me.
    When I request to print a test page, I get the message Error - printing in progress.
    It remains in the queue and nothing happens….. I am desperate and don’t know what to do

Hello crucho86,
Just a question, when you started the installation procedure for this printer on the PC, was it connected to the computer?
Did you try to get it working on the PC BEFORE starting the driver installation procedure?

Yes, it was connected via USB cable and I had made an attempt before installing the driver

  It is recommended to install the driver prior to connecting to the PC.
  If you encounter difficulties, it would be advisable to review the installation procedure for this printer.
  Previously, I advise you, in order to avoid a conflict between an old installation and the one you are about to undertake, to eliminate all traces of this printer from the PC, you must act as if it never existed.
  Then you disconnect it from the computer and restart the latter.
  It is only at this point that you will download the driver and initiate the installation. The driver from T3chN0g3n is indeed the right one (the first).
  During the procedure, you will be prompted to choose the method of connecting the printer to the PC; this is when it will be decided.

Hello.

Not very young, this printer... I had (until 10/2019) the SX 415 (from 2011) and thus from the 400 series. It's not going to be easy to keep this printer stable with Windows 10. That's partly why I exchanged it for a new one = Canon TR 7550

  I share your opinion but I still think there must be a way to manage it; mine is from around 2009 and works very well, the only downside is that the cartridges tend to be "devoured" too easily!

Thank you for these messages and solutions...
Indeed, I have finally managed to install my printer and almost everything works... I did have the Scanner function on my old PC with this EPSON STYLUS SX400 series printer, is there a way to recover this function on my laptop (just a reminder, it's running Windows 10)

  Hello crucho86,
  You download and install the following driver, epson630619eu.exe, and it should work.
  In case it doesn't, you have a program for the scanner in Windows 10, click on Start at the bottom left of the taskbar, and in the list of programs, look for Scanner, right-click on it and select More then Pin to taskbar, just click on it to start the scanner. This is if the above driver doesn't work.

I click on epson630619eu.exe and then on run......... and nothing happens....?

  Regarding the second solution, if you don't have Scanner in the programs, you are probably not on Windows 10!!!
  If that were the case, I don't see why the Scanner would show up for me and not for you!!!

Hello.

Unless you go through the control panel. Turn on the printer then >>> Control Panel >>> Devices and Printers >>> click on the printer and from there you have the scanner which you can create a shortcut on the desktop or pin it in quick access.

This is for my Canon but it was the same for my Epson SX 415.
