Hello everyone,

I would like to change the forced subtitles of an MKV video. The video is in French, but certain parts in foreign languages require subtitles. The MKV file has English and French subtitles, but even after several attempts with MKVToolNIX, nothing works, the forced subtitles remain in English...

I hope you can help me!

PS: below is what I get when I drag the MKV file into MKVToolNIX

Yep, but the tutorial doesn't really answer my question :(

Actually, even when I set "forced track" --> yes for French subtitles and remove the English subtitles, the forced subtitles remain in English...

If the subtitles are embedded in the video, besides blurring or cropping the image, there's not much you can do about them.
If you select a subtitle track, you should be able to see in MKVMerge whether the subtitles are forced or not, with the option to select/deselect this choice to change it.

      Example:
The default subtitle track and the one in German:

If I want the French one to be set as default and forced, I use the window on the right to make my modifications:

Finally, if it's the English subtitles that bother you, delete them ;-)
