Hello,
Hello, I have a problem with my Brother DCP 9020 CDW. Upon starting, it makes a clicking sound that seems to come from the scanner carriage belt. This noise is followed by an error message: "Scan impossible AF, turn off then turn on the device." I have turned my printer off and on several times but to no avail. What should I do? My printer was purchased in late 2015 for occasional home use. Is this a common failure with Brother products?
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 77.0.3865.90

Hello ...
If you are sure that the problem comes from the belt unit, why not replace it?
However, it costs around €100 or more (here)
Its reference is BU-220CL

At the top of the page near the light bulb, there is a link that allows you to find a dealer for Brother parts
What you could do beforehand, just in case? is to remove and then reinstall the belt unit to check if the message is still there or, ...miraculously no more message?? (example)

Looking forward to your upcoming comments....But if none >> Resolved

Thank you jmarion3 for your response, however the noise is actually coming from the scanner part and not the transfer belt. So I don't think your solution is the right one. Can we easily disassemble the scanner part?

Hello ...
Thank you for the response....
I'm sorry but I thought this belt was included in the transfer module but apparently it has nothing to do with it?
All I can share with you is an exploded view of this printer but it's a bit complicated to decipher because I didn’t see any belt or maybe??
