Hello,
This message is for mom's laptop (Acer Aspire V3 771G). Recently, we've noticed that the clock is not quite right anymore (it's running about 10-15 minutes fast).
Is it really the BIOS battery CR2032 that needs to be replaced? The laptop will be 7 years old at Christmas. In a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWbojJF3m-4), the guy explains that the battery is connected to a JST cable.
I tried to disassemble mom's laptop. I managed to remove the 3 covers for the hard drive, the CD drive, and the other one, also to separate the part where the touchpad is, but at some point I can't separate the keyboard from the back cover. I would like to know if I should look for the location of the CR2032 battery or the small JST cable.
Thank you for your help.
In parallel, I sent a message to Acer on social media FB and Twitter.
In another post, they talk about clearing the CMOS. Should I do that?
Configuration: Windows 7
Firefox

Hello,
Here is a video that will help you finish your disassembly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HvnPnmERtI
The battery does not seem accessible until you remove the motherboard since it's on the back of it.
(let's see if it's possible to make it shorter)

Did you simply set the time through Windows?
Was it not holding?
For the clear CMOS, it will be done with the battery change (double win)
After changing this battery, the PC will restart in the BIOS where you just need to set the time and date, then exit by confirming, and that's it.

I didn't see that you had already stopped by, same video for fabcastor, he should manage!
Have a good evening.
Regards.
You're welcome ;-)
We'll have to see if it's really an issue.

Good evening,
Great minds think alike (but one is a bit quicker) :-)
