Full hard drive -> Mac frozen

You must have received a warning message that you did not heed, which is a mistake since you should always have 10% of free space, especially on a boot drive.
Using the trash is impossible because it stores on the same disk, and since you don't have enough space to install specific software like CCleaner or others...

I think you need to buy an external hard drive, if you don't have one, preferably pre-formatted for Mac OS, but generally they are in Fat 32 or maybe in Fat 64 (exfat), which would be better since Fat 32 only allows the transfer of files not exceeding 4 Go.

You should be able to transfer files that take up space: photos, videos... but I’m not sure if you might still face difficulties; mistakes can be costly sometimes :-(

And why not reinstall the operating system directly to an external hard drive via the internet using a network cable, boot from it, and then delete what needs to be deleted in order to gain the necessary space.
