Money Heist

Hello, I wanted to get your opinion on the minimum age to watch La Casa de Papel.

Indeed, my son is 12 years old and even though all his friends have already watched it, it is recommended for ages 16 and up on Netflix (even if the ratings on Netflix are not always justified), and since there are no reviews anywhere, I am asking for yours.

Thanks

Julien

Hello,

To be honest, it's very subjective; children experience things differently. Regardless of their age, some are quite mature, while others are vulnerable, impressionable, etc.

Personally, I stopped at the sixth episode of season 1 (I really didn't connect with the often very predictable plot). Judging by what I’ve seen, I’d say that from around 13-14 years old, it's largely acceptable.
Ideally, we should respect age limits, but it's not always easy to justify that with "it's not your age."

I therefore recommend picking a few episodes at random and watching them with cuts, just to get an idea; still, keep in mind that this series, like most Netflix series, is primarily aimed at teens.

I would say it’s suitable from the age of 15. The series' universe is violent and there are allusions, threats, psychological violence, and sex scenes.
Paradoxically, it sometimes seems a bit naive on the other hand. My children insisted on doing like the others and watching the series, but I told them no way!

Well done for saying no! For once, I'm reading something sensible.
The 4th Season is even more violent than the first three. Despite the very friendly and human actors in their red outfits, there are also the psychopaths, narcissists, and totally deranged individuals! Strongly not recommended for those under 16.

Hello, I have a 12-year-old child who keeps talking to me about Money Heist. I didn't want him to watch it before he turned 13 because I found it too violent; however, it hasn't shocked him or made him violent.

Honestly, the series doesn't contain anything particularly harsh apart from a few fight scenes. In my opinion, the series is very accessible compared to shows like Game of Thrones. I think 12 years old is a good age.

Well, that's not at all my opinion from season 4! More violence than ever.
If it's rated 16 years / violence, it's for a reason.
I'm not sure if your blonde head really enjoys seeing a guy get his testicles pierced with a fork?

Hello,
I'm 12 years old and I've already watched Money Heist; I didn't find it very violent and my parents didn't notice any particular signs of aggression or anything. I had to insist for a long time to be able to watch it. I still don't see why parents refuse to let their children watch this series because it’s not that horrible. And for your child to grow up, you need to trust them at least a little. One day or another, they will need to know what drugs are and a lot of stuff like that! We need to be given freedom; we only have one life and we should enjoy it as much as we can.

Hello,

Netflix is based on American standards, which are stricter than French rules. It's not Netflix that decides.
16 years old in the United States is closer to 12 years old in France.
But I still find it very borderline for a 12-year-old...

I agree with fermipararoxx... 12 years seems a bit short for the house.

Hello, I don’t advise him to watch this series at his age because some scenes may not be suitable for him, but when he turns 13 or older, I think he might be ready.
