Good evening,
I would like to know if at your age, you understand what you are watching. Do you understand the "killer's" intent, his motivations? Because watching bloody scenes is just a matter of watching the news.
And there is a difference between watching and understanding a horror film of this kind (very psychological) and just seeing the images.

As usual in this wave of sadistic films (some of which are quite good, like Hostel), there’s always some silly pretext to justify the torture, like interrogating violence, psychology, but it’s just the screenwriters thinking, "So between this gory scene and that one, what can we come up with to pretend we have a message?"
And there are plenty of people who, without realizing that the only thing they truly want is torture and other painful stuff, manage to find the "psychology" of these films interesting...

To respond to the initial post, it’s not because it’s scary that the films are banned; it’s that at 12 years old, you don’t realize it, but you have a very sensitive mind, and at night, those ultra-violent images can haunt your thoughts and deeply trouble you, even if it doesn’t show in everyday life. But it can create little traumas and disorient you, making you lose certain references.

Good evening, let’s say the required age to watch this "gore" movie (rather than horror) is 16, but I think it's just because it's very bloody, and Saw is very sadistic, especially seeing dismembered limbs, blood everywhere is not very nice for everyone to see lol, try showing that to a grandmother to see what she thinks ^^, well it's not me who invented the law to set age recommendations lol.

I don't think there is a specific age limit for a horror movie. It all depends on you. There are people who will never be able to watch Saw because they are too sensitive, or there are people who will watch Saw at the beginning of their adolescence. Personally, I'm passionate about horror, bloody movies, sadistic plots, and those that heavily play on psychology. I watched the first Saw when I was twelve and I'm fourteen now. It has never haunted me; I even loved it. It depends if you understand the killer's intention in the puzzle, his goal in this sadistic project, and all that stuff.

I believe that a horror movie can be watched at the age of 14, it's the age where we become aware and start to have the maturity to watch this kind of film.

I’m not going to help you get the message across because I’m 37 years old, and I think the first Saw is very good but harsh, and I understand the restriction for those under 16. The second one is honest, but after that, it’s just a load of crap. Honestly, where is the psychology in all this, especially in the third one? 1 hour and 30 minutes of film, 1 hour of torture. It’s pure voyeurism. And to say it’s not a big deal, that people deserve what happens to them—that’s where I draw the line. It’s with this kind of justification that tomorrow we’ll live in a police state where the slightest infraction will be punishable by law, and a simple pickpocket will be sentenced to death.

Honestly, in the film, Jigsaw kills people that he judges do not live and appreciate life as they should. If you think that’s justified, then you haven’t understood the film. Jigsaw is a disturbed, malevolent being, and cannot be excused for everything he does.

Hi, so I'm 15 but I've seen all the Saw movies (1 to 7) at 14 and they don't scare me at all, but they're mostly gory and psychological! So it all depends on you if you have nightmares ^^ anyway, it's up to you if you're sensitive or not, great movie!!!
P.S.: If you watch them, don't skip any otherwise you won't understand anything. It's important to watch them all in order, that's it, see you!

I think he can indeed watch all the Saw movies he wants given what he gets out of them.
Here's a good idea for a "psychological" movie, there's "Faces of Death"... lol (Seriously, it's unwatchable).

Lol, it's true that it doesn't look great... However, I really liked the first one.
In the revenge film genre, I also saw the remake of The Last House on the Left, I thought it was pretty good, it doesn't make you think too much.
However, I didn't really like Death Sentence or the one with Jodie Foster (I can't remember the title).

Oh no, I don't know that, I was talking about images of real executions (shootings, electric chair...). It's not a movie, rather a series of scenes of deaths, all more horrific than the last. Honestly, I nearly vomited, I didn't even finish it, that kind of gratuitous violence bothers me and I find it pointless and really unhealthy.
