No sound from Thomson TT600BT turntable

Hello everyone,

I just gave my dad a turntable and I got a JBL speaker for the sound.
Problem: despite connecting it, no sound is coming out...
Neither with the Bluetooth speaker nor with his hi-fi system speakers!
We even plugged it into the TV and the same... I don’t know what to do other than return this turntable...
Could you help me?

    Hello!

    Yes, the cell holder is well installed and no wire is sticking out.
    The 33 RPM is being read since we can slightly hear the sound in the speaker... but just very slightly.
    It's a real puzzle!!

    Have you checked that at the back "LINE" is selected and not "PHONO"?
    Although the manual says the opposite, which is not logical at all

      Yes Andy, while looking online I did put it on Line... actually, I tried both... and the sound isn't really coming through... if you strain to listen, you can hear something faintly in the distance...

    There is probably an issue either with the cell or with the preamp
    If your father's amp is old, it might have a phono input, have you tried it?
    Otherwise, back to the seller, it's the famous "bathtub curve"

      We tried it on my mom's hi-fi system...
      We tried it on the TV...
      And on the Bluetooth speaker.

      My dad doesn't have an amplifier. But I saw there was a preamp on the turntable.

      I'm sorry, I might not have understood your question about the amplifier.
      I didn't know about the bathtub curve!!

    We just tried again... we can hear the sound from the bluetooth speaker but very, very faint...
    So it’s playing well because we can distinguish the music and the lyrics but the sound is minimal... I don't know what to do anymore.

      Wouldn't the round Power/Off button also control the Volume?

      Try gently turning it.

        Have you tried the USB connection from the Platine to the PC using the software Audacity as specified in the manual?

      No, there is no volume control on this turntable; however, there is on the record players.

      When I saw that it was BigBen the AV service to contact, I was surprised!!!

    It is obvious that an amplifier is needed.

      In the past, amplifiers had a "Phono" input which included a RIAA correction preamplifier, allowing turntables to be directly connected.
      With the arrival of the CD, these phono inputs disappeared.
      If you connect a turntable to a line input, the sound is very weak and very treble-heavy.
      So nowadays, if you want to connect an old turntable, you need to buy a separate preamplifier.
      This phono input is making a comeback in some products, often high-end.

      wireless or wired listening with an RCA output

      If it helps, Bluetooth (wireless) or RCA, either line (with pre-amplification/correction) or Phono (without), and in this case, the amplifier must have a phono input.

      It's a chain that is 5 or 6 years old.
      No phono input on it.

      We just tried again on the Bluetooth speaker and we can hear the sound faintly... I don't understand anything.
