Hello,
Suddenly, the right-click on the desktop no longer offers the option to create a new folder. This feature has been replaced by the option to create a document folder.
So far, I've managed by copying and pasting an existing empty folder. From time to time, I've tried to resolve it without finding a solution.
Here I am, seeking help on this forum. Thank you in advance!

Good evening,
You can try a solution described in this discussion:

Good evening,
No, there are both... but to create a new folder, that's not the right approach.
You need to be in "Windows Explorer" (if you are indeed on Windows)..?? the one with the little yellow folders.
And in the drive, right click==>New will create a new folder in the drive.. and you give it a name.
If you want to create a subfolder... go to the main folder, right click... new... and it will create a subfolder underneath or inside your main folder... and everything is organized that way...
Otherwise, you’re like lawyers, all the files are on the desktop...!-
Thank you for your response to my question. But wait a little... I'm on Win7, originally from win3.1, then win95, then win98, then winXP, now win7 but I'm not following the right steps to create a new folder on my desktop? (don't be mad, I'm laughing). Well, I didn't understand your explanation for the simple reason that for 20 years I've been working every day on a PC, if we are talking about the same thing, I've surely created more new folders than a lawyer... No, what's happening is that in the right-click menu (on the desktop or in an existing folder) I no longer have the option to create a new folder. This feature is replaced by the text "Document Folder" preceded by the briefcase icon. Best regards.

You can check here https://www.winhelponline.com/fileasso/directory_fix_w7.zip
applying the software should save you.
Sorry young man, I couldn't guess your pedigree.

Hi,
Follow the instructions on this page, especially the registry manipulation.
It usually works.

Thank you for your help. As I told Malekal_morte - this inconvenience (which almost drove me crazy before I came here to ask for help) is minor. Maybe I'll find it someday, but I'd rather not insist. Thank you very much!
