Recording programs that are divided into chapters

Hello,
I've been recording programs on TV using an 8-gig USB stick with my Sagemcom HD TNT decoder for a while now. I record movies, but it turns out that when it's movies broadcast on the smaller TNT channels, the film is complete in one chapter from start to finish. However, when I try to record on TF1, France 2, or France 3, it divides the movie into 2 chapters on my USB stick. When I connect it to my computer, it shows 000ts and 001ts. I don't understand; my recordings are messed up because the movie is split, and then trying to join the second chapter to the first is a hassle... What is the reason for this? How can I explain that when I record on channels like France 4, France 0, W9, etc., there's no problem? The movies are recorded as one chapter from start to finish, and only channels 1, 2, and 3 divide the films.

Hello and welcome to CCM
I suggest that your film should exceed 4GB, so you need to format your USB drive to NTFS to handle files larger than 4GB
Reformatting a USB drive or hard drive
After purchasing a USB drive larger than 4GB, you need to give it a name to recognize it on your computer and choose the FAT or NTFS format. I recommend choosing NTFS as it allows you to load files larger than 4GB
Plug in the drive, go to "Computer," locate your drive by its brand name, select it, right-click on it (left mouse button), click on "Format," and in the window that appears, change "File system" to NTFS, in "Volume label" (choose a nice name!!!) and type the name. Check the box for "Quick Format" and click "Start"

Okay, I did as you told me, I formatted my USB drive to NTFS and renamed it. We'll see for the next recording, but I don't think that solves the problem because on all the other small TNT channels it was working very well. I had the entire movie in one chapter on the drive and it probably exceeded 4 GB by far. That's all I recorded on TF1, France 2, or France 3; those three channels split the movies into 2 parts, 2 chapters.

Hello,
It's normal, that's how Sagemcom devices work. It's mentioned on the TVNT testing forum; you should have researched before buying this product. You can read the various tests of TNT decoders at this address http://www.tvnt.net/forum/liste-des-adaptateurs-tnt-mpeg-4-hd-enregistreur-t25944.html-
I bought this product a long time ago, in December 2014, and I took what I found in the store, which means there wasn't much choice, plus the price was reasonable. It only cuts movies on TF1, France2, and France3; for all the other TNT channels, it doesn't cut movies into several chapters. It's strange, why would it cut on the first three channels and not on the others?

It's the DT84 http://www.tvnt.net/forum/sagemcom-dt84hd-magnetoscope-numerique-tnt-hd-t34363.html
or DT83 http://www.tvnt.net/forum/sagemcom-dt83hd-magnetoscope-numerique-tnt-hd-t30561.html
If it's one of these models, then it's normal because HD channels take up more space for recording; a one-hour recording exceeds 2GB, and the Sagemcom splits recordings every 2GB.
You can merge TS files with the free software RecTVEdit, choosing CGV Etimo 2T recorders or Optex ORT 8891HD (these recorders use the same recording system based on the Ali chipset). -
Yes, it's the Sagemcom DT83 that I have, that's the right one, but I'm not going to change it since it works, especially since I only use it occasionally when I want to record. My TV already has a built-in TNT tuner, but unfortunately, you can't record directly on the TV; you have to go through an external device. But can you install this software on Linux Ubuntu?

RecTVEdit is Java-based software, thus cross-platform compatible, downloadable at this address http://dl.free.fr/getfile.pl?file=/MZqVBIs3

I record 2 episodes; I watch one episode on Monday and the second one on Tuesday. How can I avoid having to watch the first one?
