Bitlocker recovery key inaccessible

Solved

Hello,

I'm creating this topic because after installing Ubuntu in dual boot on a friend's PC, Windows 10 refuses to start. It asks for a BitLocker recovery key that we do not have... It seems that this key can be retrieved from the Microsoft site after logging into her account, but the site gives us an error.
So currently she has a PC that boots Ubuntu but not Windows...

I'm lost and I need your help!

Thanks

Hello,

See here: https://www.malekal.com/bitlocker-cle-de-recuperation/
The recovery key is created at the time of BitLocker encryption.
It can be linked to a Microsoft account or stored in a file.

If you didn't encrypt the drive, you might want to check with the manufacturer.
Some computers may be sold with encrypted drives.
They may have the recovery key.

Otherwise, you'll need to reinstall Windows 10 to remove the encryption: how to install Windows 10.

Thank you for your quick response!

I didn't encrypt the drive; it just got itself locked when starting up the PC (a sort of security measure, I suppose) because the installation of a system didn’t please it...
I admit that I'm a bit panicked at the thought of having ruined his computer...

At startup, we have the choice between Ubuntu and Windows. Ubuntu starts normally: no problem.
When we choose Windows, a blue screen appears asking for the BitLocker key that we didn’t manually save anywhere since we didn’t even know the drive was equipped with encryption, so here we are...

I hope I haven't ruined his computer...

Without the key, you won't be able to access the data, so you'll need to reinstall Windows :/
