Hello,

I can't open my *.ARC files with PowerArchiver, Winzip, or others.

Here is the message from PowerArchiver:
"PA cannot open this file. It does not appear to be a valid archive. If it's a SFX file, it must be in Zip format or it is corrupted. If you are trying to open a multi-volume archive, open the last part of the archive."

WinZip message:
"Message WZ13: WinZip cannot open the specified archive, read the archive directory, or if a filename is invalid. The file may not be an archive or may not exist. It may be damaged or there may be insufficient memory or disk errors."

How can I open my ARC files?
Thank you in advance.
Jérôme

    I found this:
    pk361.exe 119808 Feb 27 1989
This packs and unpacks .arc files (self-extracting)
    ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/arcers/pk361.exe

Do you have a link for PKARC?

This is the link I provided, it is still valid (7 years later!).

After decompressing the programs (run pk361.exe), you can decompress an .ARC archive by typing:

      pkunpak archive.arc c:\destination

Awesome program of yours, better than IzARC for reading and decompressing an [ARC] file.
      Thanks

    .ARC ?
It is compressed with PKARK, a program created by PKWare.

Sorry, but it is indeed a .ARC file and not ACE.

ARC ???? unless I'm mistaken, it's ACE compressed files!

So compatible with ZIP RAR, but if the file is corrupt, you can't open it, and there's strictly nothing you can do except download it AGAIN FROM ANOTHER SOURCE !!!!

No no, ARC and ACE are different.

ARC is much older (pkarc, etc.)
