Crossbow manufacturing plans

I once made a crossbow. The trigger mechanism is made of bronze, joining the two parts of the crossbow (stock and barrel) with two plates. The bow is made by grinding (a very long process) a main spring blade from the rear of a Renault Juvaquatre. The size of the bow is 80 cm, with a width of 2 cm in the middle and 0.5 cm at the ends. The force is approximately 100 pounds. To draw it back, a lever system rests on the bow, and an articulated support pushes the string towards the latch. I had difficulty finding the right string, as it kept breaking at the end of the bow's draw. Eventually, the string is made from a tractor clutch cable, and it slides on two bronze strips that are 1 cm wide and 5 mm thick, spaced 1 cm apart. The bolts have triple fletching: one vertical and two horizontal made of thin plastic. They have a diameter of 1 cm and, with the tip, are 20 cm long.

You could perhaps make a 3mm hole in your spring blade, pass the cable through it and then tighten it with a cable clamp (which tightens a single strand of cable).

It is a medieval Japanese crossbow that reloads very quickly but lacks power.

The popular mechanical review has a plan that is easy to make for crossbow limbs which are sold at an affordable price. Here’s what we have on the market: 150lbs / 80lbs / 50lbs. The price ranges from $6.00 to $30.00. I have been making homemade crossbows for 5 years. My experience has taught me to slightly modify the stock, and the mechanism is very good, already tested and very satisfactory.

I am drawing up the plans for a cable crossbow with lever arms to cock the tool.
I will use aluminum and copper bars for the 6 limbs (plated one on top of the other)
everything will be held together with bolts and nuts.

I have been trying to calculate for the limbs, and for the potential expansion to increase power.
About 5kg of material. 150 cm wide, 90 cm long. Approximate power of 450 lbs.. (hence the necessity of a lever to cock the tool).
Double tube for the arrow, plan for a magazine and a bipod (about 1kg more)

Concern: I am not sure if a 1.7 mm stainless steel cable will be stable enough to pull.
But well... I want to be able to make a crossbow of this kind using materials found at the hardware store. It might be worth it.
