Hello,

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 65.0 / Office 365

Thank you in advance for your attention to my message.

I would like to modify my file Normal.dotm. To do so, I typically go into Appdata, then Roaming, and then into Microsoft where the file is supposed to be in the Template subfolder.
However, here's what I get:

There is no Template file.

I then decide to try what I found in this topic: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-2654517-word-probleme-avec-normal-dot

But nothing works either. I can't achieve the desired results.

What intrigues me the most is that when I attempt the maneuver from the link above and go through the Word interface for saving, here's what I get:

The files I am interested in are accessible this way but not through the file explorer. Therefore, I cannot copy and paste the normal.dotm file since, going through the Word interface, a message blocks the file transfer since the original normal.dotm file is open.

Hence my question: how is this possible? And especially, how can I access the desired files?

    Hello,

With Office suite and Word 2007-2019.

    Info:
The Normal.dotm file is the template starting from version 2007.
Warning: the normal.dotm file does not exist initially. It will only exist after the first use of Word.

As with previous versions, one can rename a damaged normal.dotm so that Word creates a new one.
This file is located in the Templates folder of the user’s profile:

    For Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[User]\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

    From Vista onwards: C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

In principle, you should have this version:
For Word 2016/2019: C:\Users\[User]\Documents\Custom Office Templates

To change its location or find out where it is located:

Word 2007: Office Button, Word Options

    Word 2010-2019
File → Options → Advanced Options
    Section General → File Locations

You can change the location of your choice
    Click on → Modify

    A+
