Hello,
I am working on an Excel .xls file (2007 version). This file contains macros and ActiveX controls. Until yesterday, everything was working fine.
When I opened it this morning to make some changes, I got error messages: Unable to exit design mode. The control "commandbutton2" could not be created.
I copied the file to 2 other computers and it works well. When I come back to my computer, the problem recurs, and I'm stuck. I uninstalled Excel and reinstalled it, but that didn't solve the problem.
I have Windows 10 Professional on my ASUS PC. I have gone through all similar posts, but none provide an appropriate solution. I need help....

Hello,
Despite the restoration I did yesterday following your recommendation, the problem has still not been resolved. I ended up formatting and reinstalling the entire system only on the C:\ drive last night, and this morning everything started working correctly, allowing me to make progress on the file. This proves that the file had no issues, but that the problem came from the computer; however, I'm not sure where exactly. I still appreciate your help.
Let’s hope someone can figure out exactly how to solve this problem without having to format the system...

Good evening,
there is a macro with an error and certainly some code in ThisWorkbook, but without seeing your file, it's hard to say more

See you,

Re,
you can try a system restore to a date prior to the problem; this restore will put your computer back to the state it was in on the chosen date.
Press the Windows key on your keyboard (the key symbolized by a window) and the R key at the same time.
Type rstrui and hit OK.
Next
check show more restore points
select a date prior to the problem
next, etc...
just let the computer do its thing, don’t touch anything until it restarts or you have a window notifying you of the restoration status.
This will take at least fifteen minutes, so be patient and whatever you do, do not touch
your computer until the operation is completed.
A+
