Hello,

Having deleted my exchange account on my iPhone, I've lost all my contacts.
Is there a way to recover them?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Edit: Hello again, I am also unable to log into my account on ccm despite several password changes.

Configuration: iPhone / Safari 12.0

Hello Irshad, the lost contacts were probably from your Exchange account.
So it is normal that contacts from the Exchange account are deleted from your iPhone at the same time as the account is deleted.
The only way to retrieve your contacts is to reconfigure the Exchange account on your iPhone.

      Hello and thank you Fred.ml,

The problem I have is that it was a work email account. Having changed companies, I deleted the account in question, knowing that I have other inboxes...

Other than that, I haven't had the chance to try yet, but do you think it’s possible to recover that data by retrieving a backup point from iTunes?

      Thanks again.

The answer is no, iTunes as well as iCloud do not back up contacts from an email account.
In the case of an Exchange account, the iPhone displays the contacts present on the company's server through synchronization. The contacts are not actually on the iPhone.
Only the contacts saved directly on the iPhone and not linked to an email account are backed up by iTunes or iCloud.
In theory, when a company uses an Exchange email account, it is not possible to recover the contacts when the account is deleted because the contacts in question belong to the company.

      Thank you for your reply.

However, absolutely all of my contacts have been deleted, does that mean they were saved in my old Exchange account? Indeed, I used to save contacts manually from regular calls or when I received a call. I don't understand how all the contacts could have been "vampirized" by Exchange in that case...

      Sincerely,

Re, When you save contacts, the iPhone saves them in the account that is set as default; if the default account was Exchange, your contacts were indeed saved in the Exchange account.
The default save account is configured in the iPhone settings.
