Hello,
I use LibreOffice; but I suppose the menus are pretty much the same as in OpenOffice.
Go to Tools => Options => View
Make sure "Images and Objects" is checked.
OpenOffice has hardly any updates anymore. You'd better migrate to LibreOffice.
