Hello,

I plugged my headset into the optical output of my Samsung Series 8 UHD TV.
In the Smart TV menu I have sound.
In Netflix I have no sound ... (with my old full HD Sony TV there was no problem).

Thank you for your help

See you soon

First, confirm that there is no headphone output, only optical, and see “Remarks on audio device connections” on page 25 of this PDF:
    https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201801/20180123103332177/FRA_KTMDVBEUL-3.0.7_180111.1.pdf
And if you hear sound on TNT channels or other inputs (DVD player, for example), that means Netflix is indeed malfunctioning

I came across a discussion here

      https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/tv/thread-id/23338/page/3

Apparently for Netflix you have to set in the Samsung optical sound settings:

      HD audio input format: PCM
      Digital audio output format: PCM

      I will test

      Thank you all

"On the Samsung One Connect, there is no jack input"
Shouldn't you be talking about a 3.5 mm headphone output? apparently this TV wouldn't have one...;-(
To be clearer, give us the full model/reference of your TV

    Hello,
For Netflix, try configuring the optical audio output differently
Have you tried plugging it into the headphone jack (3.5 mm)?

    Hello,
The E-manual of a Series 8 TV on page 77 says
    Digital audio output format
If you are using a receiver that does not support Dolby Digital Plus, you will hear no sound if you select Dolby Digital+

So make sure Dolby Digital+ is not selected

    The manual: https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201801/20180123103332177/FRA_KTMDVBEUL-3.0.7_180111.1.pdf.

Thank you for this. As a reminder, I hear sound on the Samsung smart TV menu but not in Netflix. So if I understand correctly I have to manage that in Netflix’s settings? Strange there are almost no options in the Netflix app on the smart TV

No, it’s the TV’s optical audio output that needs to be configured as Édouard above said.

In the settings, it's set to PCM, and dolby and dolby+ are not selectable (greyed out)

Last solution: buy a jack cable and connect it to the analog audio input? Is the quality significantly worse in analog vs digital optical cable?

    Thanks in advance

Curious that it’s greyed out and you have no choice and above all no result, I would suggest doing a "reset" or "factory reset" or "initial configuration" (see menu) but you will have to redo the entire installation and settings.
      Otherwise, indeed:
optics = digital audio with the possibility to broadcast 5.1 sound (surround)
TV 3.5 mm headphone jack output = stereo analog sound which is perfectly sufficient for listening with headphones

Since we have sound "in the Smart TV menu," I think the optical output has indeed been selected... However, the page 25 remark about 5.1 sound disappoints me

Definitely another curiosity in this case...

Really complicated all that, I confirm I have sound in optical on my headset in the smart TV menu. As soon as I enter Netflix the sound disappears. On the YouTube app no problems. I don’t understand anything anymore... In the HD audio input format: it’s set to bitstream
      Digital audio output format: PCM

Well I’ll go buy a jack cable

      Thx

On the Samsung OneConnect, there is no headphone jack. Should I buy an optical-to-jack adapter?

If the problem is with the TV’s optical output, an optical-to-headphone converter won’t change anything. It should be that the optical input of the headset isn’t working. But the TV’s optical output and the headset’s optical input work for everything other than Netflix. Personally, I think it’s more likely a misconfiguration of the TV or Netflix (if there’s anything feasible on Netflix).

What is the exact model of your TV?

QE55Q8F. It would indeed be related to Netflix only

Ok the reference doesn’t give anything more; the notice is exactly the one given in message 2.
