My Acer Crystal Eye webcam is not working

Solved

Hello

I've got an Acer Aspire 5710Z laptop with Vista and a built-in webcam...

It worked fine for a week, but now I get an error message saying "Acer Crystal Eye has stopped working"... the green light turns on but then turns off!

Is this due to the installation of some program? If so, which one? I've read on other forums about compatibility issues with the "my pictures" folders and with codec software

Thank you for your help

I want to point out that it says in "system" that my webcam is working properly?!
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 2.0.0.6

I have a problem with my webcam; it no longer turns on, and I can’t find the icon for my Acer CrystalEye webcam on my desktop. What should I do to retrieve it?

I use Windows Live Messenger, but when I click on my webcam it works fine in My Computer! But when I use Messenger, it doesn't work!!! I have tried to configure it, but it says: We cannot start the audio and video configuration.

P.S. I'm looking on the How It Works forum, but I can't find anything.
      So thank you for responding.

    Hello,

I have an Aspire 5520 and my webcam has not been working for 10 days now. I should note that I've had the computer for 2 weeks....
In the first few days, the camera worked very well, the image was nice, nothing to say.
But since I want to launch the camera, I get the message "windows live messenger has stopped working".
Same goes when I go into the options and choose this camera.
On the desktop, I have an icon to launch the camera but I get the message "camera not found!".
In the device manager, it says that the camera is functioning perfectly.
I installed the latest driver available on the Acer website.

Can someone help me because I don't know what to do anymore!!!!!!

    Thank you ....

ps: when I plug in an external webcam, it works perfectly with msn....

I'm in the same boat, I got my Acer laptop for Christmas and just got internet on it, and the webcam is supposed to work according to the device manager, the drivers are up to date, it works on Acer Crystal (the software) but not on MSN. Whenever I try to configure it or go to "webcam settings," Windows Vista says "Windows has stopped working" and then MSN shuts down... I've tried deleting my photos, doing everything you suggested, and nothing works. What should I do??? :(

Hello, I don't have the same webcam as you, but I have an Acer 3101 with an integrated Orbicam, and I had the same issue where it stopped working. I resolved the problem just this evening by uninstalling a software called "ace mega codec," and miraculously everything is working wonderfully. I hope this helps you!

I just found the solution, it's the personal image of MSN that causes the mess; you just need to take another one because, for me, it worked.

Actually, I feel like it works with Skype (I see myself on the screen when I set up the webcam) but it doesn't work from the desktop...

    Hello
I've just become aware of your problem, and since I have exactly the same one, I was wondering if anyone has found a solution.
My webcam does not work with MSN. Message 'camera is busy'. I have an Acer 5710 with Crystal Eye. It would really help me out
Thank you to everyone who will be willing to respond
    Best regards

    Hello,
I bought a laptop on Tuesday of this week, it's an ACER ASPIRE 5310 with the integrated webcam, the famous Acer Crystal Eye. So the camera worked on Tuesday evening just to see if it was working; I took a picture and then deleted it. Since then, I want to make it work on MSN. But the webcam won't even start! It shows a message "camera not found!" Can you tell me what happened??? Why won't it start?? I haven't done anything!

HELP HELP HELP!!! It's not normal that integrated webcams aren't working properly

Thank you in advance for your help :)

Hi, which version of Windows Live Messenger do you have
because if it's a beta version it won't take your webcam into account, so in that case I recommend uninstalling Windows Live Messenger and reinstalling version 7.5, it should work
let me know, talk to you later

    Hello
I am one of those for whom the removal of images did not work. However, I tried changing the 'personal image' on MSN (on my 2 Hotmail addresses) and now it works.
    Hoping this can help someone
    Best regards to all

I also have an Aspire 5520 laptop with a built-in Crystal Eye camera. Everything was working fine until mid-January. Currently, the camera works well with MSN, but I can no longer take photos only with it. I tried to modify the program settings but ended up deleting it instead. I no longer have an icon on my desktop or in the start menu to try to open my camera again, but it still works perfectly with MSN. What should I do? I don't know anymore. I've searched through my computer and everything seems correct. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thank you.

She is now using Skype for sure because I received a call and I could be seen.

Now I would like to know why I get this message when I click on my webcam from the desktop?

    Good evening

I have an Acer Aspire 9302WSMi and I encountered the same problem.
I just emptied the images folder as recommended and the camera is working again.

For those who have done it without results, consider the other Windows user accounts, which may also be storing images.

    I'll never find it...

    Thanks anyway, Seb

    Hello,

after a few hours of research, I decided to empty the folder of my images (actually moving its contents) so that it contains no files.
then I went to the programs to restart Acer Crystal Eye webcam and there was a surprise, it works again!!!!

Conclusion: No files in my images, leave this folder for the webcam. Save your images in another folder.

There is no problem, there are only solutions!!

I removed my photos from the image folder and it works. The seller told me to remove the shortcut from my desktop and create another one, but that didn't work.

Hello, I have a problem with my camera, it doesn't work anymore. A message appears saying that it is not plugged in or is being used by another program, although this is not the case. No images in my images folder either. What should I do? Please help!

I had the following problem. The web couldn't work on either MSN or Skype. However, it was working on the desktop with the Acer Crystal Eye webcam. So I uninstalled the previous program (Acer Crystal Eye webcam) from the control panel and since then, no problems. There you go, I had also tried deleting the images and other configurations suggested on Skype and MSN.
