my Acer Crystal Eye webcam is not working Solved

Hello

I've got an Acer Aspire 5710Z laptop with Vista and a built-in webcam...

It worked fine for a week, but now I get an error message saying "Acer Crystal Eye has stopped working"... the green light turns on but then turns off!

Is this due to the installation of some program? If so, which one? I've read on other forums about compatibility issues with the "my pictures" folders and with codec software

I want to point out that it says in "system" that my webcam is working properly?!

I have an Aspire 5520 and my webcam has not been working for 10 days now. I should note that I've had the computer for 2 weeks....
In the first few days, the camera worked very well, the image was nice, nothing to say.
But since I want to launch the camera, I get the message "windows live messenger has stopped working".
Same goes when I go into the options and choose this camera.
On the desktop, I have an icon to launch the camera but I get the message "camera not found!".
In the device manager, it says that the camera is functioning perfectly.
I installed the latest driver available on the Acer website.

Can someone help me because I don't know what to do anymore!!!!!!

Hello,  look in your folder for my images! Remove all your photos and paste them into another directory!  For me, it worked! Apparently, there is a conflict between the camera program and the jpeg files in the my images folder!  See you later!

Cela signifie que l'Orbicam peut capturer des images plus claires et détaillées. Concernant le champ de vision, si l'Orbicam permet de se voir entièrement à l'écran lors d'appels sur Skype, cela dépend aussi de l'angle de la webcam et de la distance à laquelle vous êtes. Hello,  The only solution I found is to perform a system restore. This was probably due to an incompatibility with some software. That's my solution.... It was the last one before sending it back to the supplier.. Good luck!

I had the same problem with my Crystal Eye webcam, Windows kept saying it wasn't working. I moved all my pictures to another folder and my webcam started working again. It worked perfectly for me! This is on an Acer Aspire 5720G.

I bought a laptop on Tuesday of this week, it's an ACER ASPIRE 5310 with the integrated webcam, the famous Acer Crystal Eye. So the camera worked on Tuesday evening just to see if it was working; I took a picture and then deleted it. Since then, I want to make it work on MSN. But the webcam won't even start! Hello, check if you have any photos or images in your "my pictures" folder. If so, move them. Then try your camera again. Many have used this method and it seems to work!  Good luck!

Re,  well, I had the same problem without having any image in the folder. Apparently, you just bought your laptop, maybe you don’t have a lot of stuff installed, so you should better do a system restore. That’s what I did. It’s been working perfectly for me for several weeks now. Try that...

Yes, in a sense, it's formatted... If you have Vista, you can do it with an option from the "empowering system" bar.... Restoring means reinstalling the system to a point when everything was working perfectly... Good luck!

Good evening,   what I did was a complete system restore...  the problem is that you will have to reinstall everything afterwards, so make a backup of your documents first..  it's the only thing that worked to get my webcam back in good working order...   Good luck!

I have the same issue as everyone with the "Crystal Eye" webcam built into my Acer Aspire 7220. I have no image in the "images" folder (except for the shortcut to "image samples," but even deleting that doesn't change anything...)  I wanted to try updating the drivers on the Acer website, but honestly, it's not clear at all: there are at least 5 different places that talk about Crystal Eye, and I don't know what to do... Good evening everyone! I have some great news to share with you :D!!!  My WEBCAM IS WORKING AGAIN!!! It's a miracle!!  Having had an Acer 5310 for two months, I was without a webcam, and a miracle has happened. I must say that I didn't do anything extraordinary; I had originally looked for the webcam driver on the Acer website (nothing before), and this week I did some updates for Vista. I didn't think the webcam would work! And yet it does!!! Today I even noticed the little webcam icon appearing in the conversation windows of Windows Live Messenger, and of course, I was able to start a video chat!!! I'm so happy!!! And the fact that there are photos in the "Images" folder has nothing to do with it because I actually have photos, documents, etc.  Anyway! Try to do some updates!! Hello,

after a few hours of research, I decided to empty the folder of my images (actually moving its contents) so that it contains no files.
then I went to the programs to restart Acer Crystal Eye webcam and there was a surprise, it works again!!!!

Conclusion: No files in my images, leave this folder for the webcam. Save your images in another folder.

There is no problem, there are only solutions!!

Hello, I have a problem with my webcam: When I open it on the desktop, it works perfectly, but when on Windows Live Messenger I try to start the webcam or initiate a video call, it says loading and I cannot see them, and they cannot see me either, and after a while it cancels itself!! To summarize the two possibilities stated here:  -If the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam (ACEW) program is not working: This application stores its captures in the "Pictures" folder.  You should move all the images contained in this folder to another directory. (Images taken by the ACEW itself should not cause compatibility issues). I don't believe we can change the target directory of this application through its settings.   -If the ACEW webcam is not working: System restore (choosing a date before the ACEW malfunction) may resolve the issue.   (My problem was the first one, thank you :) )

It should be noted that once Acer's MSN Webcam is installed, it is not compatible at all; MSN needs to be uninstalled and the problem will be mostly resolved.

Currently, the camera works well with MSN, but I can no longer take photos only with it. I tried to modify the program settings but ended up deleting it instead. Good evening everyone, well, I had this problem with the Acer webcam we need to check several points and make a few manipulations - remove all images and photos from the image folder - update your webcam driver  - if the webcam works outside of MSN: you need to restore the system to a date before the webcam was working - if it does not work outside of MSN: disable the device and then re-enable the webcam device  then, when the webcam works outside of MSN, I open MSN, I start my webcam with the icon on the desktop and then I launch the webcam in a conversation window, it tells me that I cannot start the conversation with the webcam, so I turn off the webcam that I had started with the desktop icon and I restart the webcam alone in my MSN conversation window and then I know it works!

Hello, well, I just saw the comments from people who are having issues with their webcams, and unfortunately, it turns out that I also have this problem, which is starting to get annoying; my webcam has always worked fine before, and for some time now, it hasn’t been working at all, or it works very rarely. Hello!  My problem is quite complicated and is similar to Rexel's. I bought an Aspire 5315 with Linux on it, and I installed Vista instead of Linux. Everything is fine, except that I can't install the webcam. Here's what it says in the Device Manager:  "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)  The required section was not found in the INF file.   Click on Reinstall Driver to reinstall the drivers for this device."  Like Rexel, I have retrieved all the available drivers, but nothing works. It's really frustrating. I don't know what to do, so if anyone has a solution, that would be great.

Here is how to solve the problem for all Acer webcams across all series: Things to never do: never click on the desktop shortcut for the webcam as this will cause applications like MSN not to recognize it anymore. To resolve this issue, click on the "My Computer" icon on the right side, then go to Properties, then to Device Manager, and uninstall it. Next, go to Imaging Devices, click on it, and you will find your webcam. Right-click on it and uninstall it. When asked if you want to uninstall with the driver, respond no to uninstall without the driver. Restart your computer, and everything will return to normal automatically. Your MSN, for example, will start your webcam as usual.

I just solved my cam problem. I have an Acer Aspire 5930G with a nice Acer Crystal Eye that wasn't working until now: it was undetected. By browsing forums, I found a solution (clearing my Images folder...) and the operation worked, but I couldn't use my cam on WLM... so I went on an adventure for drivers on Acer's website and installed this: https://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/ by choosing the archive: CCD_Bison_AP_v2.0.0.20.zip and magic, everything works. I had the following problem. The web couldn't work on either MSN or Skype. However, it was working on the desktop with the Acer Crystal Eye webcam. So I uninstalled the previous program (Acer Crystal Eye webcam) from the control panel and since then, no problems. There you go, I had also tried deleting the images and other configurations suggested on Skype and MSN.

Hello everyone, For my webcam issue, I found a solution. I went to Device Manager ==> View => Show hidden devices, then I noticed that for my webcam device there was a downward arrow. I clicked on it, then at the top in the middle I clicked on "Enable." And now it's working :D  I hope this helps some people.  Bye!
