Hello,
I can’t install the scan driver for a Stylus SX215 printer. I download this driver from Epson (Epson 323810eu.exe) but when I launch the exe I get an error message "Error 0 running command setup.exe". My OS is Windows 7 64-bit and I am downloading the driver for 7 64-bit. The download and installation are done with the printer unplugged from the USB port. The Epson printer driver 323813eu.exe installed fine and the printer works very well. Do you have any solution to offer.
With my sincere thanks.

Hi
If you have Administrator rights, try this:
1- right-click the file 323810eu.exe
2- Properties > Compatibility > Privileges section, check the box Run this program as an administrator >> OK etc.. and try to install again
@ see you later

Thank you very much Didmed for your reply. I had already done this trick and I’m trying it again to confirm, but the problem persists. I’m at a loss.........

Good evening,
what seems strange to me is that you say you downloaded the printer drivers epson323813eu.exe which at Epson are made for Win7 32-bit... ?
Whereas for Win7 64-bit the drivers are epson323814.exe
On the other hand the Epsonscan (epson323810eu.exe) is common to both versions of Win7.

Good evening Baladur13,
That's right, it's an error on my part because at first I had downloaded the 32-bit driver that I couldn't install. So the correct driver is the one installed for the printer. -
I thank Didmed and Baladur13 for their help, I will stop computing for tonight and I will resume tomorrow evening. If, in the meantime, another idea comes to mind, I would be very grateful to you.
Thank you again -
Good evening,
I’ve just gotten back to the task and started everything from scratch. I deleted the printer and its drivers from the registry because it wouldn’t uninstall via the control panel. After a reboot I re-downloaded the drivers 323814eu and 323810eu. The printer driver installed fine and works very well, with one exception: each time two EPSON SX210 printers appear, one normal one that is offline and a copy1 that is connected. I delete the offline one and the copy1 becomes functional. However, it’s still impossible to install the scanner driver with the message "Error 0 running command setup.exe".
I’m open to any brilliant ideas ...... -
Hi,
1- try to unzip the said file into a folder:
right-click on 323810eu and unzip into a folder (note where the unzipped folder is located > if the 323810eu is in the Downloads folder, the unzipped folder 323810eu will be in Downloads
2- once unzipped, open that folder, right-click on Setup, Properties > tab Compatibility > Privileges section, check the box Run this program as administrator >> OK etc.. and try to install again
talk to you soon

Good evening Didmed,
I performed this procedure yesterday and I managed to install the driver. When I go to the scanner/ scanner management/Epson scan setting/test I do have the message "the scan is ready." As soon as I start the scan I immediately get a window saying "Epson scan has stopped working." I think I’m going to give up and buy a HP or Canon printer.
Thank you again for your help with my trouble. -
Hi,
all these problems may be related to Windows...
When was the install date?
Is it the original hard drive?
Is it fragmented?
Open a cmd window in administrator mode:
1- press Windows + R >>> if, in the Run window that just opened, it says This task will be created with administrative privileges, that’s fine
2- type cmd then OK
3- type sfc /scannow then Enter
4- the command will perform an integrity check of Windows files >>> let it run to the end and there will be a report at the end: the system will indicate whether it performed a repair
5- restart Windows
6- try EPSON Scan again
see you later

Hello Didmed,
This risk of problems coming from Windows has been weighing on me for a long time, but I didn’t dare to tackle this OS too much. It’s true that my PC, even though it’s still performing well, is already 11 years old; Windows 7 in particular has never been reinstalled. Moreover, I no longer have any components to reinstall it, as well as the many software programs that are useful to me. My original hard drives are also regularly defragmented.
However, since I’m a bit stubborn, I borrowed another printer (Brother MFC laser with scanner) and when I connected it via USB it was recognized, the drivers installed automatically, and the scanner works very well.
So I’m going to perform a Windows file check as you suggested and redo the installation of my Epson printers.
See you soon for the result......... -
Good evening Didmed
I have carried out the Windows integrity check as you indicated and there were no error reports. I must therefore consider (even if I'm not entirely convinced) that my problem comes from the scanners of the two Epson printers.
I will therefore go ahead with the purchase of a new printer.
I once again thank you for the help you have provided me.
