Torrent9 not working anymore: Is a VPN necessary?
Solved
Hello,
I would like to post this message to alert all users about what seems to be a scam. I am a user of Torrent9 (I know, the site is illegal, but that’s not the subject of my message). For a few days now, the site has not been working and displays a message saying: "Warning! You should use a VPN" and suggesting to download "Torrent9 VPN" (which is of course paid).
However, whether using a VPN or not, the site still does not work. I just wanted to warn everyone who might get caught.
Have a nice day,
Jérôme

Hello,
Normally, the CCM charter prohibits posting messages about illegal downloads, but indeed, given the number of people who seem to have the problem and that some might be scammed, I will keep this topic accessible.
The torrent9 site seems to have been shut down, as indicated by the red message in your screenshot: "Torrent9 will no longer offer downloads" and therefore the only visible message is the one encouraging the use of a VPN. Is this intentional? No idea, but it does seem misleading.
I would like to remind you that even though this sanction is rarely enforced, downloading works protected by copyright potentially constitutes a counterfeiting offense, punishable by up to 3 years in prison and a fine of 300,000 euros.
Furthermore, using a VPN does not make the practice legal.
