Hello,

I have a Nokia One with Android Go. In some SMS that I receive, the emojis are replaced by "??".

Does anyone have any idea what to do?

Found it!!
You needed to set the input mode to automatic in the advanced settings of the SMS application on the phone that sends the message.
And it works!

Yes, I found that in several places on the internet. It seems to be valid for Samsung mobiles.

This means that the emoji you received cannot be decrypted by your device. It is then replaced by question marks.

Indeed, this seems to be exactly what is happening in my case.
Actually, I am mainly looking for a solution to this problem.

We are in the 21st century, everywhere people are talking about artificial intelligence, cars are driving without drivers and packages are delivered by drones without pilots, computers are going to replace humans... but sending emoticons between two mobile phones is still a really very difficult challenge!
Am I the only one who finds this alarming?

Well, if anyone has a solution, or a tip for me to search for a solution on my own, I'm always interested.

Things that seem simple can sometimes be the most complicated to implement.

If you're not receiving certain emojis, it primarily depends on the version used on your phone and your recipient's phone, and it can also depend on the models of the phones being used.

What I can suggest is to check in the Messages app if the Use simple characters option is not enabled. (At the top right, tap the three vertical dots and select Settings, then Advanced settings.)

The only solution would be to use messaging apps like Messenger, WhatsApp, or Viber to avoid this compatibility issue.
