Hello, a few days ago, I built a gaming PC and installed Windows 7 on it. I noticed that the only way to get internet is to plug the Ethernet cable into my PC, but the living room is very far from my bedroom. So, I was wondering if a Wi-Fi dongle would be sufficient to get wireless internet on my PC in my room?

Hi,
For gaming, you won't just need a simple Wi-Fi key if the living room is far from the bedroom, but either a Wi-Fi repeater (in addition to the key) or good powerline adapters (CPL).
Some of them even have Wi-Fi, so you would just need two powerline adapters.
One plugged into the box and the other in the bedroom.
The connection can be made either via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.
Like these high-speed ones.

Hi,
Impossible to say.
Wi-Fi heavily depends on interference, distance, wall thickness, and objects that can block signals.
In any case, a cable is always recommended. Wi-Fi might (or might not) work, but it’s impossible to say if it will have a strong enough signal without knowing the exact configuration of the place, and since we’re not at your place... :-)

Thank you for your reply, it's exactly what I wanted to know but I think I'll go for powerline adapters as papounet17000 mentioned further down.
- Attention: Powerline adapters (CPL) are not necessarily an effective solution either. They are just as dependent on interference and the electrical installation. Personally, they don't work well at my place. And we've seen many cases on the forum where they couldn't synchronize with the electrical installation. ;-)
In some cases, they can also cause problems (loss of speeds, packet loss leading to micro-disconnections or higher latency in games, etc).
