Hello! Three hours ago, I spilled some (sweetened) coffee on the touchpad of my laptop. I immediately turned it off (and removed the battery) and dried the surface of the pad with paper towels. Unfortunately, the left and right clicks on the pad no longer work... What should I do? I think it's due to the sugar; does anyone know how to clean under the pad?
I have currently removed the battery and placed it upside down.
Laptop reference: HP BS 075F
Thank you very much.

Hi,
Under the pad?
You need to completely disassemble the machine, unscrew the touchpad plate (which is a single piece) and clean it.
That said, you especially need to make sure that it's not the contacts or the electronics that are affected, in which case even cleaning may not be enough...
We'll never say it enough, avoid drinks ON and in the immediate vicinity of computers, especially when they're laptops...
A desktop keyboard can be replaced, but a laptop can sometimes be entirely fatal and it's much more expensive to replace.

Is there a way to identify the problem to know if it's the contactors that have touched or if it's the electronics? And is there a manual for disassembling a BS 075F speaker?
In the worst case, is it dangerous to use the computer knowing that the touchpad is damaged?
Thank you
A risk: yes and no. The risk is a short circuit if powered components are affected and damaged.
In any case, rubbing the possible contact points of the pad, which allow the left and right clicks, with alcohol can help. But since I’m not a fortune teller and can’t see what you see… It’s hard to say through a forum, across screens where things might be tricky… especially without any illustration.
