Unable to watch videos on CCM

Solved

Hello,

I am reaching out for your help as I am unable to activate the videos on the site.

I have naturally disabled my ad blocker, refreshed the page with F5, but nothing happens.

How can I access the video content? It's strange because I haven't had any problems for a long time.

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits
Mozilla Firefox: 61.0.1 (64 bits)

If you could assist me, I would be grateful.

Thank you in advance,

Best regards.

Melisenda

Hi,

You probably still have an ad-blocking extension active... That's all I can think of.

Otherwise, if you have links to the relevant articles for me to check... But on my end, it's working fine.

Thank you for your response, but I must admit that it doesn't help me much. :)

As for plugins, I have:

- OpenH264 video codec
- Widevine content decryption module provided by Google Inc.
- Shockwave Flash (which I activated thinking this module would help me play videos on the CCM site, but it didn't!)

As for add-ons, I only have Adblock Plus.

If you have any leads to give me, I'm all ears...

Thank you in advance,

Best regards.
PS: how do I log out of CCM just in case? I can no longer find out since it's been a while since I last visited the site, and the interface has changed quite a bit since then!

You are not logged in on CCM... You don't have an account to post apparently.

Are you certain that Adblock Plus is really disabled on the pages in question (be careful, now the FAQs and articles are on a part of the site in .com and no longer .net, so you likely need to re-disable the ad blocker!)

Since I don't know which article is in question, I can't confirm if there is an issue with this article or not... and I don't have specifics about the problem with one or all articles...

I don't understand because I had to reset my password and I really thought I had been on my account?

That said, it was about different articles from the CCM e-magazine on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.

This affects ALL the videos of ALL the articles, whenever there are any.
... I don't know what to do anymore.

To reset a password, you don’t need to be logged in. After changing the password, you must log in through the "Login" tab at the top right of the site. Currently, you are not logged in.

For videos, apart from checking the ad blocker thoroughly, I don’t have any other leads from here, as in 99% of cases, it is the one at fault... And the technology of video players hasn’t changed, an updated version of Firefox should be able to play them.

When you try to play a video, what happens? The player loads, but doesn’t play anything?

I'm trying to log in but... nothing, the window that opens for me to connect is gone.
To answer the previous question, it's on CCM.net.
Yes, the player loads but then it goes to a black screen with the message saying I need to disable my ad blocker. As mentioned earlier, nothing happens despite the recommended actions in such cases: disabling the blocker and then pressing F5...

Good evening everyone,
Same for me regarding the videos, my ad blocker is disabled for CCM (on Firefox) plus another issue as well with the topics that contain multiple pages, I no longer have the large black arrows to navigate between the pages...

Catch you later

Any potential antivirus or something like that in the background?

On FF/Windows on my end, no ad blocker, but I can play videos just fine, though I don’t have any antivirus. :-)

For example, here, it plays perfectly: https://www.commentcamarche.net/applis-sites/mail/659-creer-une-adresse-mail-gratuitement-sur-outlook-com/

@ MPMP10
Just a thought, your "other thing", wouldn’t it be the one blocking the automatic scrolling of videos?

Hello,
I also have this kind of problem... with FF 61.0.1 and ABP disabled
Try using another browser, Edge or Chrome.

Surprising, I don't have it on my side :-(

Maybe an antivirus that's being too zealous? Or cache ...?

The video works on Internet Explorer!

The issue isn't the cache... emptied it's the same
Antivirus? Win defender... or firewall?
But for me it's fine like this... I don't really like videos that start on their own. :o)

Antivirus? Win defender... or firewall?

As it stands, that's all I can think of... Or a problem related to the provider. You all three are with the same citrus operator... but in that case, it wouldn't work under IE... surprising!

" Orange "
Videos on other sites work with Firefox while using Orange!

Message to all: I took a look at the Windows firewall. Since I don't understand anything about it, I left it as it is. :(
Thank you all for your help, and if someone has a solution with Mozilla Firefox, I think everyone who has this problem will be glad to resolve it.
If, on my side, I find a solution to not have to workaround the issue by using Internet Explorer, I'll let you know...
Thanks again to everyone and best regards.

Definitely, I'm not very good at this. I forgot to include my email address. Here is my very last message before this one:

Yay, I found the answer! It has nothing to do with the ad blocker:
here's the link: https://support.mozilla.org/fr/kb/blocage-contenu-mixte-firefox?redirectlocale=fr&redirectslug=blocage-du-contenu-mixte-avec-firefox#w_daebloquer-le-contenu-mixte

There is a shield next to the address bar, click on it and disable it as indicated in the Mozilla Firefox link. In fact, it was just a coincidence that I stumbled upon this...
Best regards to you.
