Help with LMMS software

Hello,
I'm just starting to get to grips with LMMS and I'm confused because when I try to import an audio file, it downloads it but doesn't play the sound.
At first, the software told me it was because the audio wasn't a MIDI file, so I converted it, but now it tells me to go to the settings and select a default soundfont file if I want to hear the audio, except I have absolutely no idea which soundfont file I should select and even less where it is on my computer or if I need to download it; I'm lost!
Can someone help me, please?

    Hello adelaidebch

A MIDI sequencer needs a sound bank to interpret MIDI instructions. (MIDI is a series of digital data that tells the software the instrument, notes, pitch, duration, velocity, effects, ...). The software looks for the sound banks (soundfonts) corresponding to the different instruments so that the sound card can produce something audible.

I don't use LMMS but the software should have a minimal built-in sound bank.

How to import a soundfont here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txzJEoj5wC0

Otherwise, you can find free soundfonts online (individual, by instruments, or as soundfont packs that contain all instruments).

    For example: https://soundpacks.com/free-presets/ultimate-soundfont-pack/

Once downloaded, you need to save the sound bank in a folder (for example, you create a folder in LMMS to make sure you don't delete it...) then in LMMS, you select this sound bank.
