Hello! I'm a graphic designer on Mac, and I use a lot of fonts. I would like to know how to sort my fonts for InDesign, Illustrator, etc. I want to create families like "Serif," "Sans Serif," "Fancy," etc. I have tried using Font Book to create these families, but the sorting doesn't work in my software! Is it a bug? Do you know how to associate the "collections" created in Font Book with InDesign?
Thanks in advance!
I have InDesign CC v9 and I use a MacBook Pro.

For this, you can use a font management program...
There are several available (free or paid). Personally, I use "SuiteCase Fusion". It’s good, but I find it lacking and the ergonomics are terrible...
On the other hand, it is associated with software like InDesign and automatically activates the fonts contained in the document if they are not already on the system. That’s really handy (when it works).
For a graphic designer, a font manager is (almost) a necessity because it allows you to activate font libraries based on the client (a designer of that name should not use fonts given by one client for another client!)...
And of course, to organize your fonts as you want, and then activate or not the desired libraries.
Try other font management software... there’s more than just SuiteCase Fusion on the market. -
Hello,
I was also interested in this question, and I researched Suitcase Fusion. I am not a graphic designer and don't have a professional need for it, so the cost stopped me immediately.
I eventually found information about the NEXUS software (free), which I downloaded this morning and is perfect for my personal use... (decorating photo albums using digital scrapbooking techniques)
See you soon... -
Hello,
Fonts in InDesign have always been displayed in alphabetical order.
To display them by category, you need to subscribe to Adobe Typekit (there is a free subscription option).
