Song
SolvedJpdegouge -
For a long time I've been humming a song whose lyrics I've only partially retained, here they are:
"In the drowsy forest,
I will dream when night comes,
But in the falling evening
I can feel despite myself my heart beating, beating
I don't know why.
I want to flee, but I cannot."
If someone could give me the complete lyrics, I would be delighted. With my thanks and best regards.

Hello, my friend!
With my compliments
Air extracted from the comic opera Richard Cœur de Lion
by André Ernest Modeste Grétry
Laurette's air
"In the forest all asleep
I will dream when night comes
But in the evening that falls
I can’t help but feel
I feel my heart beating
Beating I don’t know why
The water murmurs and rocks me
With so much tenderness, so much tenderness
That I no longer know where I am
I want to leave but I cannot
And the breeze caresses me
With so much tenderness, so much tenderness
That I no longer know where I am
I want to flee but I cannot "

Hello everyone,
I had already done this research a few years ago without success, and today the song came back to my mind, and here I have the end of the lyrics and especially what it's from! I learned it in the years 64-65 in primary school! One day a week, if I remember correctly, we listened in class to a radio show that was broadcast for schoolchildren, and we had a booklet with the lyrics and sheet music of the songs! There are several that I remember! I regret having lost those booklets, real treasures!
Thank you! -

I learned these songs in elementary school, I believe it was a program on France Culture. I would like to find the other songs that were taught with the little booklet, but I don’t know where to turn. I remember a bit of "come dance, come sing," and a song that mentioned a church or a chapel. I would like all of these songs.

Hello,
If you wish, I have several booklets of songs and recitations that we actually learned in elementary school to follow the singing curriculum in the 60s.
I was born in 52 and I have the booklets from 58-59, 59-60, 60-61, 61-62, and 62-63.
For those who are interested, I can make scans of the tables of contents.
Just so you know, these are booklets that I found on eBay (not to name it!!) and they are items that are quite easy to find, and it brings great joy to rediscover all these songs.. thanks to everyone for these memories.

Hello,
My reply last night did not reflect my great surprise and immense satisfaction; indeed, as with other songs for which I achieved results, I had searched online several times by entering a phrase from this song but found no solution.
The speed at which you responded proves your great capability and you deserve all my congratulations, Plutonlegardien. The forum is very effective.
I renew my warmest thanks. Best regards. -
My sister and I just remembered this song, although some of the lyrics were missing. And voilà! You provided us with the complete text!! Thank you, thank you. I can smell the scent of the polish we used to make our desks shine at school, after having gone over them well with sandpaper, and I recall the singing classes taught by the school radio. For us, it was Saturday afternoons, yes!!! We loved that half-day, filled with songs, drawings, and the purchase of stamps for the cooperative! I'm 70 years old!
