Hard Drive Filled by After Effects

Hello everyone,

I have been using Adobe software: After Effects and Premiere Pro for a while now. If you know these programs, you know that they take up space on the computer and to reclaim that space you need to go into preferences, media cache, and clear everything out. That's what I've always done and it worked well. But the last time I used After Effects, my C: drive lost almost 2 GB and my D: drive (where it is installed) lost nearly 20 GB! I've cleared and emptied the cache several times, and I've cleaned my computer with CCleaner. I have set everything so that it all goes into an Adobe folder on the D: drive and nothing on the C: drive, I've checked the folders, there are no cache and media cache files on the C: drive and these files are empty on the D:. I have no idea what could be taking up so much space and why I can’t regain it; usually, even when everything doesn’t clear right away, the space is recovered after a rest and a restart of the computer, but it’s been 15 days now and still nothing. I am a film student and I need this software, but if this continues my hard drive will be completely full without being able to clear anything and my computer will surely not perform well!

Do you know what these files are, and how to delete them? How can I recover all the space I have lost?

Thank you very much for your attention and your responses,

Laicob23

Good evening,

You should be able to see these files in your drive using "Windows Explorer"... and what are their extensions?

If you uninstall it using dedicated software like "Revo Uninstaller" in advanced mode, it should remove everything after you restart your computer. Sometimes there are certain folders left... that need to be deleted manually...

Deleted files are sometimes sent to the recycle bin... The recycle bin is on the drive, so you need to empty it as well.

That said, the filling up of your drive could also come from elsewhere; I'm thinking of automated backup series... which can end up filling your drive...

Good evening,

I don't actually know which files you're referring to since I have no idea where they are located.
There's nothing in the recycle bin since I always empty it after a cleanup and I haven't added any movies, series, or anything like that; my disk fills up at an alarming rate as soon as I open and use the software.

I had already uninstalled the software several times due to launch issues, and I've always had this problem to some extent.

Knowing your disk is a PLUS in mastering your work... you can know it... I can't.

It looks like you only read the first line...??? I also said many other things

In any case, you need to master this thing if you want to do permanent dismantling and reassembly.

Windows Explorer has several search and sorting options to find your files, sorting by date for example... sorting by size too, sorting by extension, etc... etc. your future will require you to know all this..
