Hello
This is the second WINDOWS 10 that I just installed and I am very surprised by how long the installation took!!!!
- For the first laptop (in 2017) a HP with 4 GB of RAM, a 500 GB disk and an Intel I3 processor => about 1h 30
- The second one (Yesterday) an ACER with 8 GB of RAM, a 1TB disk and an I5 processor => 8H 00!!!!!!
In detail => CORTANA install execution = 30 minutes; then 4 successive updates totaling 6h30 => Total 7H00...?
+++This morning at launch, back again 2 additional updates => another 30 minutes.....before being able to use WIN10.....
Then +++ Uninstalling NORTON antivirus (due to overlap with defender) = OK => asks for Reboot => another 30 minutes for a new Windows configuration.
Then; after restoring documents, installing the printer, configuring email, and setting up backup; I performed a quick scan with defender: the PC is working properly.
Can you please tell me if this is normal? because it is the first time an installation has taken so long. What could be the cause??
Thank you in advance for your advice; please believe in my sincere consideration.
Best regards
D.P

Install DWS Destroy Windows Spying; it will disable updates (which are useless because with every release of an update, new security vulnerabilities are exploited from this update). It will also disable Cordoba, Microsoft's P2P network for distributing these security vulnerabilities and its infinite backdoors, or better yet, completely uninstall Windows and switch to Linux (ArchLinux, Antergos, Ubuntu, or even FreeBSD, Fedora, Redhat, and why not Scientific Linux).
First: you won't be bothered by updates that take ages to install.
Second: your machine will be 10x faster.
Third: no more need for antivirus that already slows down an already sluggish machine.-
Thank you ComteZer0 for your advice.
As I mentioned in a previous message; I noted this issue on a friend's PC and to this day WIN10 is working well.
Personally, I have 2 PCs: one running WIN7 and the other running LINUX-Mint, which gives me complete satisfaction; for 3 years I haven't had a single issue.
Once again, I thank you and wish you a good day.
Best regards
