Installation of Microsoft Office 2007

Hello everyone,
I am the happy owner of an Acer Aspire that I've been living with for a short while and I'm still having a hard time understanding it... and I would like to install Microsoft Office 2007, but when I put the installation CD in, I get an error message... I don't know much about this, I panic over nothing and I'm reaching out to you:
"Microsoft Office 2007 does not support upgrading from a pre-release version of Microsoft Office System 2007. You must first uninstall any pre-release version of Microsoft Office 2007 products and associated technologies."

I installed the "Office 2007 compatibility pack (beta)" a while ago (which has never opened anything), could that be the "pre-release version of Microsoft Office 2007"!?
But do I also need to uninstall my old version of Microsoft Office (Office 2000)????

I know it's a lot for not much, but I don't want to do anything that could upset my little Acer! ^^
Thank you for your information!
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Good evening,

There may be other items to uninstall. Check the Microsoft page that discusses this issue:

Uninstall all programs related to MS Office. This issue sometimes arises after installing SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe first.
Otherwise, Office 2007 works fine on Win 7 RC 32 and 64.

Thank you very much Jcargoo. Indeed, you need to go to "add/remove programs" and remove anything resembling "save as PDF and XPS Beta...".

Hi
you need to uninstall your pre-release version

for the 2000 pack, apparently nothing prevents it from coexisting with 2007

Hello,

The same message. However, I have never installed a pre-release version of Office 2007. Could it be that this comes from the add-in I installed under Office 2003 (official version) to be able to read files from Office 2007? How can I uninstall it?

Yes, that's right, the version for reading Office 2007 files is indeed the case.

In the program files, delete the MS Office directory and then clean the registry with CCleaner (cleaner --> applications --> uncheck everything except M.Office --> start cleaning) and then with jv16 power tools.

Problem solved!!

You just have to put this program https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/290301 and check that there is nothing in run appwiz.cpl named office 2007 ...fred.

Thank you very much, I haven't done it yet but if you say so, it should work!
I see that "howitworks" is effective, so I won't hesitate in the future!

Hey... I had "Microsoft Office 2007 trial version (60 days)" before. I uninstalled it, and when I want to install a new Microsoft Office 2007, it shows me this message: "Microsoft Office system 2007 does not support upgrading from a pre-release version of Microsoft Office system 2007. You must first uninstall any pre-release version of Microsoft Office system 2007 and associated technologies..."
Thank you for helping me!!!!!!!!!

Same thing!!!

I was on Win 98 SE with Office 2000 Pro. I uninstalled everything, formatted, low formatted, Fdisk, etc... I reinstall Win 98 SE, and I can no longer reinstall Office 2000 Pro (on 3 different computers), yet I have installed and reinstalled everything several times in previous years.

I format everything again and buy WinXP and Office 2007... Office 2007 doesn't want to start the installation... message: microsoft office system 2007 does not support upgrading from a pre-release version of microsoft office system 2007. you must first uninstall any pre-release version of the microsoft office system 2007 products and associated technologies...

Is it possible that Microsoft marks computers with earlier versions... if so, how do we remove these traces...??? Thank you very much to all!!!

Hello,
I'm looking to uninstall the pre-release version of Microsoft Office 2007 in order to install the paid version. I've done some research and everyone recommends using the "Windows Installer Cleanup" tool. I've downloaded it. This software is supposed to help me remove any remaining traces of the pre-commercial version of Office 2007, as I've already removed it from "Add or Remove Programs." However, I'm a novice and I have no idea what I should delete once I see the list from the software. There are indeed Microsoft programs listed, but they seem to be related to the operating system and therefore essential.
For example, there’s Microsoft SQL, .NET Framework... Could those who have successfully removed troublesome programs in W.I. Cleanup let me know which ones they were? Thank you.
