Hello,
Since an update of Firefox done yesterday afternoon on my laptop (an Acer running Windows 10), everything is messed up:
1 - the desktop background image has disappeared
2 - when I try to open a folder (containing files) on the desktop it shows "RPC Server Unavailable" and I cannot open anything
3 - when I click on the small Windows square at the bottom left of the screen to open the start menu or to shut down the machine or access settings, nothing happens
4 - when I right-click on the screen to access "Display Settings" or "Personalize," it says "No program is associated with this file...", and I cannot access these functions
5 - I can access the applications for which there is a shortcut icon on the desktop (Firefox, Libre Office, etc) without any problem.
Can someone explain what is happening and how to fix it?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards.

Hello,
Press Windows + R
Type msconfig
Services tab
Click on the manufacturer column to group services by manufacturer.
Check everything that is Microsoft
Click OK and restart the computer
~~
Try Windows Repair: https://www.malekal.com/windows-repair-tutoriel/
~~
If that doesn’t help, you can repair Windows 10: How to repair Windows 10 without data loss.

I did everything you recommended in the first part. It's fixed, everything is back to normal.
Thank you very much.
