External hard drive recognized as USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge

Question

Hello everyone, so here it is, last night I recovered a WD 1TB Blue 7200RPM hard drive (the cheapest ones still on sale from WD) from my PC to use as an external hard drive using an enclosure bought from Cdiscount. There were no system files or anything on the drive, just regular files, videos, and photos, but they are very important. Everything was fine last night; I put the HDD in the enclosure, it was recognized, and I had access to my data, and everything was good, then I stored it away. This morning I plugged it in (power and USB cable), the sound of a device connecting appeared, but the drive doesn't show up like any USB stick or anything else. I checked in devices and printers and I see that it's recognized as USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge. I tried it on two different PCs and nothing changes. However, the drive hasn't received any shock or anything in the meantime; I don't understand. So if anyone has a solution to make the drive and the data reappear? re  Where there is indeed a volume that gets removed and put back  ok, you locate the volume "that gets removed and put back," and you right-click >> delete (or something like that)  then:  you shut down the PC normally  you unplug your external hard drive  you restart your PC  you plug the external hard drive back in  you let me know what it does  @+  the radiation level is higher at the employment agency than at Chernobyl

Go to the disk manager and tell me if your disk space is allocated or has a drive letter.

How is this drive connected to the PC? Is it a 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drive?  Does the enclosure used have a separate power supply?

Alright, I'm updating:  I just tested the drive by putting it back in a PC (via SATA and power), it's not detected, yet I can hear it working normally. When I use the diskpart command, list disk, it doesn't appear either, what should I do... The problem is mainly that there's a very important video for me on it.

The worst part is that in the device managers it is detected as USB mass storage, as if it knows it is present but impossible to identify it....

Hello  Do you have access to the data of the HDD in devices and printers?  In devices and printers, right-click on the HDD >> properties and check the "format"  See you later  -- The radiation level is higher at the job center than at Chernobyl.

re  no problem for the help :)  but what's strange is that it still detects the WD and on top of that it seems to be running fine  don't you hear the HDD "clunking/clicking"?  personally, I've had 2 external HDDs that died overnight, without any shocks etc...  @+  -- the radiation level is higher at the employment office than at Chernobyl

Hi! I had the same issue with a 2.5-inch hard drive powered by USB and connected via SATA to my PC. By the way, I went to Disk Management and saw that it wasn't partitioned, so I did that and there you go!  For your case, try searching in the bar next to Cortana for "show hidden files" and click on show hidden files, folders, and drives or something like that...
