Hello,
Here are my first steps on the forum. Please excuse me for any potential mistakes! My title here may not be explicit enough.
I'm on Windows 7 (Ultimate) because I love this version. However, while lending a hand on a Mac at my neighbor's, I noticed that you could boot an operating system installed on an external hard drive connected via USB! Just by pressing ALT at startup. I would like to know if that is possible on a PC as well. And a side question: in that case, the USB 3.0 port must be the most suitable. How can I tell which of the ports is the 3.0 port on a HP Pavilion or an Acer Aspire? THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Normally, this is possible on Windows; you just need to press one of these keys right when the PC starts up: either F2, F5, or F11. This allows you to access the BIOS, where you can choose the drive your computer should boot from (i.e., start an operating system), in this case, your hard drive.
I hope I answered well.
Happy holidays!

Exactly! A huge thank you to both of you! Great! Now I have another question, but I think I will have to open another post! How do you technically couple two hard drives?
