Can you install games on an external hard drive?

Hello,

To avoid slowing down the performance of my new computer, I would like to install my games, which are rather large, on an external hard drive. Would that be possible? Knowing that the hard drive would be used only with my computer. **

If it's possible, how should I proceed? Do I need to download to the computer first or put everything directly on the drive?

Thank you in advance for your answers

    Hi,

    Yes, it's possible.

However, you will slow down the loading times and other aspects of your games. External hard drives have lower transfer rates than internal hard drives in computers.

As for installation, some games require you to specify where they should be installed during the setup, while others are automatically installed in a predefined folder, like with Steam for example.
