Hello,
I accidentally pierced a flat cable, and after a lot of searching and many phone calls, the company that manufactures this component no longer makes them and no one has any. There is no replacement product either.
I’m considering throwing away my 102 cm TV, but before I do I’d like your opinion: the flat cable is 35 cm long, and only 10 cm are needed to reach the connectors. Is it possible to shorten a flat cable? If I cut the pierced part and strip the 60 pins, is there any chance it will work? Or would I just be wasting my time and should I buy a new TV right away?
Thanks for your opinions/answers.

Hello,
I will answer with a somewhat silly question; you should find the answer yourself.
If I cut my hose in two, will the amount of water at the outlet be different?
In fact, if some cables/leads are longer, it’s because the TV manufacturer adopts a length that is compatible for all their models, which helps avoid stock that is often wasted at the end of production!
It is true that the resistivity of the material used can be different, but not on such short dimensions and with this kind of connections.-
Hello,
thanks for your reply.
So it’s supposed to work, but to do it I have to "strip" the end of my cut napkin, but the copper wires are actually thin flat foil (well enclosed between two sheets of plastic). I tried to strip with a utility knife, but the result isn’t great.
Any idea how to strip this kind of map? -
