Hello,
I’m turning to CCM today because I tried to reset my Mac by booting with Command + R but it’s asking me for a password. I contacted Apple support but they told me, "gnah your Mac is too old."

System info:
El Capitan 10.11.6 (15G1212)
Processor 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB

PS: I bought this Mac nearly a year ago on LeBonCoin and I’m disappointed with Apple support which invites, even forces, to go to a shop to get it repaired.

Hello,

The Mac isn't too old, as it runs on OS X 10.11, but the problem may relate to a theft protection feature. Explanation:

- If the Mac asks for a password, even after restarting from its recovery partition, that is to say with the cmd and R keys held down during the entire boot phase, or with the cmd and S keys held down to boot in single User Mode, it means the Mac is protected by an internal program password. There should then be a padlock on a black screen that appears when the Mac starts up.
In such a case, it is impossible to bypass this theft protection without going to an authorized Apple service center.

Best regards.

Yes, it's a padlock that appears.
My Mac is from 2009.

Good evening,

So there’s no other solution than to go to an Apple Authorized Service Center with proof of purchase (invoices) to resolve the situation. This must be a stolen Mac protected by an internal program password.

Excerpt from the page: https://support.apple.com/fr-ch/HT204455 (bottom of the page).

If you have forgotten your internal program password

If you do not remember your internal program password, make an appointment at an Apple Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Center. Bring your original receipt or invoice, which will serve as proof of purchase.

Sincerely.
