Hello, here's my problem.
After receiving my new equipment from an online computer store,
I dove in and assembled everything (i7 7700K, MB: Asus Strix Z370-E Gaming). Once the assembly was done with all possible precautions, the PC doesn't start and a red light is blinking on the motherboard indicating the CPU as the source of the problem.
My question is: is it possible that there is a defect with the processor, or is it necessarily a user error during assembly? Is there a possible way to fix it, or should I return it to the sender?
Thank you.
Edit: while checking that everything was properly connected, I started it forgetting the 8-pin power connector, and it started but with a black screen (according to the manual, without the 8-pin the system cannot boot), but does that mean my processor is not dead?

Yes, yes, the graphics card is well powered, I probably worded my edit poorly.
In fact, with everything wired and powered, a red LED lights up on the motherboard,
and it was while wanting to unplug/replug that I forgot to reconnect the 8-pin and noticed that it was starting up (fans spinning, graphics card lighting up, etc.), but the system does not boot (which is normal according to the book).
My knowledge is limited, but this is the third (or fourth, it doesn't matter) time I've built a PC without issues, but the first time with the motherboard pointing fingers at the CPU.
Hence my question: is it common for a CPU to not work or to have a defect straight out of the box? -
Yes, I should have provided my configuration from the start.
Motherboard: Asus Z370-E Gaming
Processor: i7 7700K
CPU cooling: NZXT Kraken X62
RAM: Corsair DDR4 Dominator Platinum 3200 2x8gb
Graphics card: GTX 1070 Asus Strix 8gb
Power supply: Corsair TX 850W ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 (old power supply that must be around 10 years or more)
Case: NZXT H700i
HDD x2
SSD x2
There you go, I think that's everything. -
My dear friend, you have been a victim of Intel's politics. Unless there have been changes in the last few days, an i7 7700K (7th generation) does not work on a motherboard equipped with a Z370 chipset, which is only intended for 8th generation CPUs even though they have the same socket.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to help me try to see more clearly, it was just a simple hardware incompatibility. The most absurd thing is that there is no indication given in the product description on the merchant's site.

Hello
in the series of forgetfulness, did you put the 6-pin on the GPU
